zenith A910 cabinet turntable and radio question

Hi there, having a look at a turntable for a friend, a zenith A 910-1 Has really good sound through the radio but switch to the turntable and the volume drops considerably, sounds ok on highest volume setting. I'm trying to figure out if the problem lies in the preamp resistors or the turntable cartridge. Some troubleshooting tips would be helpful.
I found the preamp transtistors. the zenith part # is 121-433, A cross reference chart tells me to find this NTE 123 AP (NPN SI). I can add a lot more information if needed but wanted to start simple. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Most likely the Zenith used a ceramic cartridge. If it has a Magnetic cartridge in it, and it's connected without a preamp, it will have considerable gain LOSS and sound tinny and flat.
 
I agree as in the cart or stylus isn't right. assure that the cartridge wiring is correct. It's not uncommon.
 
aha! thanks, thought I looked it over, dug a little deeper and found black, red and green all broken. love a simple fix
