Zenith Console Info

Mutemike

Mr. Tall and Mr. Small
Sorry to add to the plethora of console threads, but................

I came across a CL listing today for a Zenith model SFH2515T/ 7H30 console and was wondering if anyone had any info regarding it?

Specifically, I am wondering weather it is tube or solid state and wetaher it would be a good candidate for an amp pull? I did try the Google machine, but it was not being entirely forthright with me today.

Thanks for any and all info!

Regards,
Michael

I had a zenith console and the chassis number on the tube amp was 7b31(close to your 7h30), it was el84 pp stereo

this is what it is gonna look like pp el84, 2 6cg7 and 5u4gb, this is a pic of my 7b31 which is close but uses 12au7's instead of 6cg7's

A photo or two would surely help, if you have any.

Hope these help- I have not been been able to physically inspect the piece yet.

Regards,
Michael

In my opinion Micheal, that's way too nice of a set to just pull the amp. But if it's yours, you can do as you wish. Guessing 62-63 vintage. PP el84's means probably around 7-10 very nice watts per channel RMS probably. Very last version of the Cobramatic turntable when Voice of Music was making them for Zenith. Looks like it has decent speakers and a nice cabinet too. Really nice example of an early sixties console, much better than most.

Thanks to all who chimed in. I just bought it and will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon.

I realized that I liked the styling on the components enough that I wanted it regardless of weather it was tubes or not. The fact that it is and apparently good quality just makes the deal even better.

Michael

I agree!

I still have to visually inspect it, but based on the photos, I am planning on leaving it whole- current owner claims that it "works great"..

I do have some period correct grill cloth that I can replace the existing stuff with if needed.

Thanks for your input.
