I have an ad from late 1959 which shows that same control panel and discusses Zenith's "extended stereophonic" feature. It was supposed to increase stereo separation such that sound seems to come from beyond the sides of the cabinet - richer, deeper than you have ever heard before. Would that be some kind of variable phase control, I wonder. Some Zeniths of that era had treble horns as well. Despite some cosmetic drawbacks that might be a pretty interesting console. That "studio control panel" does look cool. A big plus is that the seller has listed a lot of negatives which would seem to indicate that he/she is forthright.

I would buy this if it were near me. The amp most likely has Amperex el84s and there should be a pair of Jensen RP-103 horns in there as well. People tend to like the cobra-matic TT that came with the old Zeniths as well.

Go get it!!
