ZIP TIE KNOB PULLER!

JB8

Well-Known Member
This could already be a known configuration for zip ties and knob pulling, but still thought I'd post pics. It's worked on every stubborn knob I've used it on thus far.

Two sizes of zip ties, simple to build, easy to use.

Once assembled you open the mouth of the two larger ties, slide them over the knob and down under the edges, then push the two smaller ties towards the knob, put your finger through the loops, and pull with slow steady pressure.

Sorry for the crappy pics, blame it on the IPA.

Not bad but I am concerned with the amount of force being applied to the pot. Better way is to use a hair dryer and gently heat the knob. This will cause the knob to expand just enough to break the seal. Knob slides off with a lot less effort and a lot less potential for mechanical damage. Just be careful not to overheat. Finger touch hot is about right.

Dang it, @SoCal Sam, I was going to mention how perfect dandruff shampoo is for cleaning faceplates, I'll have to check out the toothpaste, ha! TOTALLY KIDDING

For pulling knobs, I was always a bit nervous to use the spoon technique, totally with you @Descartridge, so it's nice to have an alternative that won't scratch/dent anything and can be made for pennies. Let me know if any of you ever try it, great to get some feedback!

Thanks for the certification, @Chilibrother, gonna hang that up in my garage! :beerchug:
