zombie Sony hp-810

I recently inherited this unit and it is in pretty rough shape. For starters the receiver is just on, there is no real way to turn it off, problems with the receiver end there, it's really in pretty great shape sounds pristine, tuner and tape inputs all work great. The attached Dual 1211 is another story, there is a laundry list of issues with it, the center post is missing as is the cartridge and the power switch. that being said the table appears to turn at all speeds correctly. The auto arm feature seems very broken which is not terrible as I'm more of a fan of manual anyways. My question is how hard/expensive would a full repair of the turntable be? Is it worth it or is this a rabbit hole best left unexplored? thanks all!

The 1211 is not the greatest. I'm dropping in a better Dual in a similar unit.

The always-on receiver is probably related to a switch that the turntable controls when it finishes a side. If you get the turntable worked out the power likely will too.

you're totally right! I popped the dead 1211 chassis out and hooked up my current table to take advantage of the receiver and everything works great! I guess that I'll just be in the market for a better dual chassis to replace it with.

The 1211 isn't so bad, but it may not be worth a whole lot of effort when better models are easy to find and will drop in. But be careful to check if the counterweight will clear the back of the dustcover.

I think that for what it would cost to repair the 1211 I should be able to find a better model for a reasonable price
