A lot of it has to do with the "Similar Threads" suggestions at the bottom of a page. Not everyone observes how old they might be.

Interesting arrangement, could almost pass as a new song!
But, as a child of the '60's, I remember The Zombies when they were on the Top Ten on my little AM transistor radio, so I'm gonna stick with them
She's Not There and Tell Her No were a couple of the first songs I learned on guitar...
Now, while "not fearing the vere," back to subject at hand...I find the old threads about cables or "what turntable or cartridge to buy" unuseful as they are likely obsolete...and yes, many times I get hooked by the "suggestions" at bottom of thread

At what point does it become a Zombie thread to where it irritates people? Is this considered a Zombie thread now? I have found some “ Zombie threads” interesting and have thought about posting on them but didn’t because I didn’t want to get razzed and upset the herd. Who decides when it is considered a Zombie thread and no more posts are acceptable? Ok, I am going to back out slowly, “give me three steps towards the door.”
Don't even worry about it. Unless you are trying to directly answer a specific person's 10-year-old question. The original poster may be long gone. A PM attempt would be better.
I've seen a 25-year-old post replied to, prolly because it was a Google hit for a query. It might actually be good to revisit an old topic.
I don't think people are irritated. As @Mr Boochie pointed out some members mention when the OP is no longer around and a question is asked of them. Just an alert that they probably won't get an answer, unless the long gone OP mysteriously pops back in.

I have specifically posted to older threads (once I find them again), if I have something that might be of general interest to anyone else that might find it, and if that topic hasn't been specifically discussed in a newer one.
I, recently, actually went back and "resurrected" a thread I started almost 20 years ago, about modding a specific vintage speaker, because I realized that I had not explored a particular simple tweak, that might have made what I did even better. That way, if someone else has such speaker and stumbles across that thread- they will have a possible even-better option to make their own speaker sound better...
