Very informative thread. Had a pair in the late 70's and just had to pick up a pair of Advent 1's. They were refoamed recently and I might rebuild the crossover's.

Well worth recapping. I got a pair of Advent/1 from a fellow AKer who loved the sound. They did sound very good, not the typical muffled sound of many vintage speakers. I recapped them with Daytons and they sound even better. In fact, the difference was very large. With new caps the highs opened up and I realized what I was missing before, even though I did not think I was missing anything. It helps to do one at a time and listen to them side-by-side with the same input.
