A progress in motion.......
Well here's the end of a beginning....as I keep adding/changing components in my stereo!!
To date:
Amplifier: Acoustat Trans Nova Twin-200
Speakers: JBL 4333AWX
Pre-amp/Receiver: Yamaha CR-1000
Cd: McIntosh MCD 7007
Also a cheapo Sony DVD for movies, all interconnects are Monster Reference (just because I get them at cost) .
Next upgrades will be room acoustics as on one side of the room is a brick mantle and on the other is a doorway adjacent to the speaker. This gives the presence that the speaker on the mantle has a brighter presence.
Also going to try an active tube gain stage, rather than the CR-1000. Sometimes I use the variable output on the cd player and bypass a pre-amp altogether.
Also experiment with a Harman Kardon A-300 Integrated tube amp (which is about to go to the bench to be recapped).
