The matt window below can't even be clicked away. Can't scroll down this. Only refresh works removes the ' veil' / screen, without first clicking the add.

Same on Android phone.ladt Android version all updates.

I have been a member here for over 15 years, and have subscribed on and off during that time. I don’t read or post enough these days to make subscribing reasonable to do. But I do like to check in periodically. That said, just in the last week, I have had ads that force me to watch them to read the page, and, even worse, one ad that resulted in a malware redirect. I’m going to give up for a month or so to see if it gets any better, but as of right now, the non-subscriber experience is neither usable nor safe. I get that ads are needed, for sure, but AK is now BY FAR the worst site I ever visit in that regard.

I've had to subscribe AND use an aggressive ad blocker. It makes for a lot of blank spaces, but no annoying pop-ups.
 
I'm a subscriber and I use an adblocker on my pc, I don't see any of the ads some here mention due to the latest upgrade.

However, ads like those mentioned that are "click ad to continue" for ANY site has me saying "screw this" and moving on.

This site being primarily driven by an older crowd (no offense, I am too) that is even less likely to be tolerant of such ads could really suffer if ads like that are part of the user experience. It will no doubt, dissuade potential new members from joining and participating.

Ads for any site, I totally get it, nothing is free including server hosting but at some point the chase for another buck can become self-defeating and ads that mandate clicking cross that line in my head.

I guess I'm just sad to see the overall enshittification of the digital world affect a beloved space like Audiokarma. Here is to hoping this is a temporary quirk with the server upgrade.

I think not

Main issue is having to click , accept , install to read content.

IMHO any ad that hijacks a page is malware

Surely the idea is not force ads to simply view a page right ??

If so is there not a way to keep ads from hijacking a session ??
