    Its STK3156 Yamaha R-2000 I haven't heard of anyone actually making them but if you do would be awesome

    Hi,

    I got this amp recently, nice cosmetics, but protection light is on.

    R349 / R350 resistors ( 5watt or something like this) get very hot when the amp is on. I did measure some voltages off wires coming from the top board (RE, LE, RO, LO, E, MU) and the voltages slowly decrease to practically almost 0 from the time of turn ON, but I didn't keep the amp ON for very long.

    I went straight for checking output transistors with VOM and they all check out good, 470 - 590 ohm range B -> C / E (NPN / PNP accordingly).

    I am kinda puzzled right on how to proceed next. I only soldered out...

    Any and all assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    If I can't get it I may end up sending it to you if you are still doing this type of repair.

    Are you still interested in going through my Yamaha M 85 amp? Late last spring you said you were busy until late summer. I am in southern Minnesota. From memory, you were in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

    Hi D, I took off the cover of my Marantz ST-46 and as you laid out in the instructions and found the following. on the larger horizontal board, the largest cap is labelled C802.     No---------- That 2200µf is a power supply cap.. The memory back-up will be located close to the processor chip on the vertical board.

    According to the service manual I have. The processor is located on the board right behind the front panel where all the tactile switches for the front push buttons are located.

    Avionic, Word on the street is, you're the Yamaha guy! I have a C-70 with a strange issue. When the "Tone Parametric" switch is off, the left channel drops by 10dB and the right channel sounds nasty. All goes back to normal with the switch on. I had a C-50 for a while and I always felt the audio was cleaner with the switch turned off. Any idea what could be the problem with my C-70?

    Yep -- It is likely a dirty SW503 solenoid switch. Recommend SW503 upgrade..

    Do you still have that Yamaha MX-2 for parts? I found an MX-1 in good shape and for a reasonable price (if they'll ship). It still can be powered on but it has a broken power button (it's always something it seems...). I would like to know if another button is available before I do the deal. Thanks!

    Actually, scratch that. I just found a new-in-box old-stock MX-1 listed for $1,100 on Facebook Marketplace and I bought it for $900 including shipping. The guy's an audiophile from Long Island NY. He picked up three of them from a going out of business audio store. Thanks though!

    Hello Avionics, just following up with you to see if/when you might have time to take a look at my inoperative B-6 amps … the last time we shot messages back and forth you mentioned something about September (at least). BTW, the fourth amp has recently also gone into protect mode … is the issue with these amps just bad build components (age?) or just a plain bad amp design? Just wondering … Thanks in advance.

    Hello avionics tech, I was in the Air Force also although I was in the transportation department. I have a Kenwood kw-40 to receiver and it keeps blowing the main fuse. It has been working well after being recapped about 1 year ago and now I ran it for about 3 hours, and it keeps blowing the main fuse.     Is this "starting a conversation"? If so, I am interested in your refurbishing two sets of Yamaha equipment -- MX/CX/TX-1000, and MX/CX/TX-2000. Any interest in these projects? The 1000 set is one-owner (me), and the 2000 set is very near mint / museum quality.
