Great collection, bro!

:thmbsp:

Thanks.... that's what 30+ years of G.A.S gets ya! Those pics were a few years ago and I no longer have the Guild D-25 Mahogany pictured, but there are a bunch of others that I don't have pictures of "handy". My "right now" fav is an early 1969 Gibson Les Paul P90 Goldtop(w/ the Goldtop stripped off a VERY long time ago:tears:). That guitar through my AC30 is simply HEAVEN!

I have seven lefties. I don't play much any more. I do have some beauties that I'll have to post sometime. I was always a better drummer and still have my old Sonor-Lite kit.

Post em up! I hear you... I play my drums almost everyday. I love when I can play with drummers that can switch up instruments so I can play a couple tunes on the drums. Recording is a different story though and leave the skins to my "pro" friends.

Woah, that's killer...some really cool guitars there!! what caught my eye are (I think) a Gretsch electromatic and that double-neck danelectro. You mention having a '69 paul with the p90's...holy cow man, that guitar must scream!

Nothing new in my guitar front, still can't play anything, but hoping to fix that over the summer with some time. In the future i'm considering building my own guitar, would be a neat project I think...difficult, but neat. Before that, a repaint may be in order, i've been thinking of adding some self-decal work to my silvertone, since it isn't worth anything:scratch2:

You are correct it's actually a 1965 Gretsch Corvette hiding in the shadow there and a double neck Dano which is my only non-vintage but quite cool guitar... except for a bunch I've built from old parts. You have a great eye and knowledge for someone who "still can't play anything". :thmbsp:

Building guitars is great fun and satisfying... Reranch offers up some great Nitro products for repaint as well. My hunch is with some woodshedding you'll be surprised in what you can learn in a short period of time.

Ever seen this model Westone? I have one just like this one that is waiting for a refinish job. Someone really messed up the paint. This is a Weston Dana Limited (Dana Sutcliffe)

westone.jpg

Don't know that one, but I just picked up a 1990 Westone Villain Pro in Pearl Blue with a Kahler Spyder (made in Korea by SLM, probably the same as the Dana Ltd):

Very nice Fred!

Does it have active pickups, and have preamp and battery routes on the back? The Dana Limited III came out in the 80's, before the Dana Scoop. I believe he (Dana Sutcliffe) had already left the company by the time your Villain was made.

You should definitely look into a re-fin on that bad boy...I have a '56 Goldtop that is all original other than a re-fin of the top(it was actually done a long time ago, so it is clean, but with a little bit of a worn vibe, if that makes sense), and while the guitar takes a bit of a hit on collectable value (actually, quite a bit of a hit...although it did not cost me as much, either), the guitar LOOKS bitchin'...and I definitely get somthing out of that!

Wow... a '56 Goldtop. Congrats, what a fantastic (and out of reach for mere mortals) guitar that must be! :ntwrthy:I am thinking I will do a re-fin to mine at some point after I do the Nitro finish on the Mahogany Thinline Tele I am building right now.
I've been reading up on the original/correct Goldtop finish procedure and I think you are right... it's really a stunning look for the guitar.
I'm still looking for some parts for my Goldtop. Someone Schallerized it in the 70's so I need some double line/double ring Kluson Deluxe tuners, the pickup selector ring, truss rod cover and pickguard are missing as well... so I am looking for originals. As well there was a messy headstock repair that I am going to make better. So yea, mine is beat to crap but she has that vibe and sounds GREAT as is. :thmbsp:

Stock setup is EMG Select passives, not sure what I'll be putting in there yet. Too many projects right now, this got stripped to core elements & then shelved for a little while. It won't take much to get it working (fix the control cavity mess, add back a tone pot), it'll all come together some rainy day.

My post # 54 in this thread had three guitars that started life as Gold Top Deluxes...if I remember correctly, they were '69/'70/'71. Nice guitars.

That's one heck of a family tree there. :thmbsp: I see you also have love for all the kick ass vintage Japanese made axes... they have really been my favorite guitars to play around with since the old American ones went through the roof a long while back. I've got a few old Tokai, Ibanez, Aria, Electra, Washburn, etc. right now... quite excellent guitars!

I love them all, really, except I never really got into the pointy ones...had some Vs that played great, but I never fell in love. Mainly, the ones that stick around are the ones that nobody offers wads of cash for...I've had tons of Gibsons/Fenders/PRSs/Jacksons/Charvels/Hamers/Kramers/etc., and lots of really good ones. They just ended up garnering offers I couldn't refuse.

The Matsumoku (some of the Aria/Electra/Washburn) guitars in particular have always been underdogs, they were always a good deal for what you were getting. Some QC issues in the lower models actually worked in my favor, too, since they often sold cheaply if the bridges were crooked or toggle switches failed. :dunno: People are waking up a bit now, with the information available in the internet. Bargains are still out there, if you're willing to fix some stuff.

Still jonesin' for a Dean BelAire, though, for some reason.

Here are some of my axes. There are a few more (Modulus Q6, 1983 Fender 1962 strat, 1956 Gibson ES140T with early 60s Gibson humbuckers, etc.). The ones pictured here are an Alembic Series I short scale, '67 Guild Starfire with mods, Ron Guliotta 5 string and a David King fretless 5. The rig has Alembic preamps, an Eventide Eclipse, Crown XTi4000 and a fEARful 15/6/1, the best bass cab I've ever used (and I've played them all).

Here are some pictures of my Left Handed PRS McCarty. PRS only made lefties for 3 or 4 years. They didn't use any right handed parts on these. I bought this just before they stopped building them. They will build custom order lefties however starting at 6k. Used lefties now command big dollars.

This guitar sat on the wall at Guitar Center for almost a year & I drooled over it many times. One day I was looking at it again & the sales guy asked me if I was taking it home. I snapped back, yes at 50% off list. He went to the manager & he said he would do it. Before that day it was always $600 more. :D

This one has a Carved East Coast Maple top in McCarty Burst. The neck is Mahogany with a rosewood fretboard with moon inlay. It has a push/pull tone control for single coil operation & sounds very similar to my AS Tele. Pick-ups are stock McCarty's. Typical McCarty layout. Built like a tank!

It plays like a dream & has an excellent neck with Vintage-Style Tuners. No birds for me, I like moons.
