BadassBob's flea system

A buddy of mine has a Karlson cab waiting for a 12TRXB. His father built it in 1958 or so, from a kit, but the speak got smashed somehow.:dunno::beerchug:

I'm going to find him one for a replacement one of these days...:deal:
 
Soon Ill be recapping these 12TRXBs with 5.6uF Solens, along with brand new baffles, and lining the cabs with 1.5" thick egg crate foam. Should make for a nice improvement. :yes:
 
Just put white grill cloth on the Barzilays last night...looks pretty damn good. The white cloth has a nice contrast with the darker cabinets :yes:. Sorry about the crappy pic, taken with my cell phone. Im going to put some DSLR pics up later :).

Very nice setup there, Bob! It appears that we both use the same soundcard and T-amp. I'm curious as to what op-amps you settled on with the HD2. I'm using the TH4032's from TI and have been very happy with the sound but I do like trying other op-amps.
 
I just sold my HD2 about a month ago. I was running 6 single opamps instead of 3 duals. 2x LT1361 on the outputs, and 4x AD797s off of the DAC. That was my favorite combo.

That grill cloth is sweet! I'd love to hear those Barzilays. How do you like the Jensens in your GSG?

I dig the Jensens...pretty good cap, but not $35 a piece good. The K40Y-9 sounds pretty darn close, and will please all but the most demanding of people IMO. I think the mids are more bloomy with the Jensens, but everything else is about the same. Ive been using the Jensens for a long time now. I got them a little bit before you ;).

That's right, sorry, I've developed a bit of CRS these past several months. Can't seem to keep track of stuff the way I used to. :no:

Nice! Ive never thought of it that way, very cool. The old tech with the SET, mid century with the Electro Voices, and modern with the DAC and Squeezebox. Good stuff.
