Very nice. We don't hear enough about the Tekton speakers and they certainly represent an awesome value.

Thanks everybody. The base for my amp is red oak with crown molding, finished with 3 coats of stain and Feed n Wax :).

I control it via my HTC Evo with the SqueezeCommander app :)

That's what I was going to ask-- what are you using for a server front end.

I've probably read your thread on the VB fifty times, since I use Ubuntu for almost everything anyway, it's really tempting. The rub is having it be a single OS machine. I would really really like that, but end up using Netflix for streaming movies; tying me to the XP world and a normal PC interface. If it weren't for Netflix I think I'd be doing the same thing (if I could find something cheaper than an iPhone/iTouch for a control surface. $230+ is a heck of a lot for a what I'd be using as a remote.)

That, and I hate the typical PC interface-- keyboard/mouse/monitor. Still, I end up using 'puters for everything. After seeing an iPad last week, it seems like a tempting interface, but I really miss big heavy knobs, dials and switches that go *clunk", and I haven't sorted out the tactile bit. It looks like your using the iPhone to select tracks and the pre amp for volume control, correct?

I figure if anyone around here has looked at the different server options, you'd be one of the ones to bug. So I am. :D

Oh, and the room looks frickin' awesome. It's nice to have a place where you don't have to close your eyes to enjoy the music.:thmbsp:

thanks in advance
Mike

You are very close to my ideal system. What else is on the rack? Also, I run a much smaller pair of full-rangers (JohnBlue 3s) which I love a lot, but aren't really sufficient in the bass department. How are the Tektons?

Very Bad Ass.....Bob. I've heard 2 GSG amps and think they are top of the line. I really like them.

I really like the Tektons, but I feel they can be greatly improved upon. Soon, I will be moving the drivers to new cabinets, namely the Bob Brines FB-20. The Tekton 8.1 is ~28L...which in itself is pretty small for such a large driver. Realistically, the bass digs down to about 55Hz, even though theyre advertised to hit 30. The FB-20 on the other hand, is about 40L, and has measured bass response down to 40Hz at -1dB...way better. A friend of mine will be constructing the cabinets, and I will be doing the veneer and stain job. They will look similar to these when done.

Well folks, I was finally able to finish my cabinets this week with the streak of nice weather we've been having. I put it off for a good 2 months because it was just too darn cool and rainy for the paint to stick. Theyre finished with spray-in bed liner. I lined the area around with driver with 1/2" denim insulation, as well as put a sheet on the top and bottom. The cabinets are very well braced and pass the knock-knock test quite well, much better than the Tekton cabinets. These have a much fuller sound than the Tektons, as well as deeper bass. When I finished mounting the driver in one speaker, I ran it side by side with one of the Tektons...much better. This leads me to believe the bass in the Tektons goes somewhere in the realm of 55 to 60Hz. My uneducated guess would say these cabs hit ~40Hz. Overall, Im pretty darn happy with em :).
