February 6th-Chicago-Area Get Together, Anyone Interested?

As it's been almost a year yet again, I've forgotten how much work is involved and am again willing to host the 4th Annual Chicago-Area Get Together at my house on Saturday, February 6th at 1 PM. That is, I'm willing to host provided there is any interest from local (or not so local) guys and gals.

In order to minimize hassle at your end, I've been thinking about featuring small bookshelf speakers this year. However, based on previous years, my suggested themes are best ignored so plan on bringing whatever strikes your fancy.

Please post if you are interested in attending.

Boy, you talk about cutting it close...I fly out to North Carolina the next day.

Robie, just letting you know I saw this. Ill see if we have anything going on that day and try to get down there.

I really don't have anything noteworthy to bring that I can fit in my car though. Unless I drive my WRX wagon... then I can bring my (marks old) infinity RSIIs. They might fit on a bookshelf!
 
Hooray! Has it already been a year? I'm in. If we stick to bookshelf speakers I can bring a pair of Celestion SL6 and Kef Reference 103.2, if anybody would be interested in hearing them.
 
Thanks for the invite.. I am in. EPI 50s ok to bring? They are not mint looking but they are pretty nice sounding.
 
I heard from RayW and he's all booked up so we'll have to make due without him.

John, I'm dying to hear the Celestions and Kefs. I was trying to make it easier on you this year as I recall how much you enjoyed "schlepping" your Sony's here. Colette hopes Sabah can make it too.

N9JCQ, EPI 50s are fine. I have Model 10s and Epicure Model 4s here too.
 
Happy to bring it! This particular variant is extremely rare.

Oh, btw, I've got a few smaller speakers, such as Paradigm Mini-Monitors, Dynaco A-35s (not common), and ADS L700s. If any of those sound interesting you can pick and choose as we get closer.

I'll bring the wifey's Explorer, and just leave 'em all in the back. We can bring in whatever you want.

:sigh: Got all the parts, still in the boxes. Maybe I can get them done before the 6th. No promises, though.

Haven't decided what I'm serving yet but the past 3 years we've provided a main dish (pizza, chili, BBQ pork) and asked everyone to bring an appetizer to share along with their beverage of choice.

About a week before the event, I'll PM everyone that expresses interest in this thread instructions to my house, contact info and a request that they bring an appetizer and beverage.

I realized after the first year that it's best to let people bring the equipment they are excited about rather than trying to dictate who's bringing what. As far as base systems, I will offer my B&K ST-140/Pro 10MC, Sumo Athena/Polaris and Sony TA-2000F/Kenwood KM-106 pre/power combos.

CD sources available here are my Rega Planet and very nice sounding RS CD-3400 portable. If Snade brings his outboard DAC, the CD-3400 will surprise lots of people.

I've got a Rega Planar 2 with LOMC DL103 but also have a step up transformer for use with other tables. I've also go a BOTL Rotel RP-1000 with MM Grado Signature 8MX if necessary.

My McIntosh MA230 is also available if need be along with some older Sherwood receivers (S-8900A and S-7200A).

Available speakers here will include: ADS 710s, ADS 200Cs, Indignias, Rega Elas, B&W DM3000s, Epicure Model 4s, Genesis Model 10s, Dynaco A25s, AR4xs, Insignias, Minimus 7s - 2 pairs and EPI A70s.

Some stands would be helpful if someone can bring a pair that would work with different speakers. I'll have a single pair.

I do have several areas in the house where we can set up but unfortunately the house is a split level with a semi open floor plan so isolation is a bit tough. The advantage is that people can circulate as need be.

I would love to be there but I'll be on my way back from Honduras on the 6th. We don't get back until about midnight. Bummer. Have a great time!
 
I would like to attend this as well. I'm a noob this year. I could bring my Sansui Seven, which should be out of the shop long before that. could also bring some stax electrostats if anyone was interested. my birthday is the 8th, so maybe I'd bring cupcakes. lol.

I'm new here, more or less, but I live in Antioch, up by the Cheddar Curtain. It sounds like it's a way to listen to other people's interesting stuff. Anything else going on?
