Ok, couldn't you have at least taken one picture with the friggin grills off?????? :D

Very cool...what all models are they? You're supposed to always put the names in a picture like that!

Top Row (left to right):
Model 8
Model 207
Model 11

Bottom Row (left to right):
Model 432
Model 9
Model 10

It was hot and sunny that day and I actually thought I had taken a photo with the grills off. It was so bright that day I could barely see my screen on my camera and basically had to guess at the shot while taking the pictures. I do have a few individual photo's I could post with the grills removed.

NINES!!!!!

Have you ever heard Sevens? Some have said they sound better than nines... I don't buy it, but I listened to those for 20 years before giving them back to my brother who was already using my Eights... then he threw the Eights away in a curbside accident.

beautiful collection!

I've got 2 sets of model 9's which are considered the flagship model. One early 1979 set with black grill cloth then the set shown in the pictures from 1982 with brown grill cloth.

The model 7's really wouldn't compare to the model 9's. The model 9 has (2) 10" drivers and (3) tweeters in the front and (1) 10" driver in the rear. The model 7 has (1) 12" driver and (2) tweeters and was basically the only model Norman Lab made that came with a 12" woofer. The model 7 is very similar to the model 11 which has (1) 10" driver and (2) tweeters. I have a set of model 7's but they are in rough condition and I haven't decide what to do with them yet.

Biggest collection of Normans I've seen in a long time, very nice. I have the model 8s and 10s. Does anyone remember the model that had a pretty big base and had a piece coming up from the back that held the tweeters?

YEAH... that was System 2 or System 5 something-or-other. A friend of mine in college had those and took them and his gear to a party for mech engineering students at Gladys City Boomtown... everybody was blown away.

VERY nice collection!!
I've heard that Norman Labs were quite desirable speakers to own?
So what....in YOUR opinion....makes them so?

Up to a point they made only 2-ways with tweeters crossed over at 1500hz. They had a simple low insertion-loss LCR crossover, but that is about the extent of my knowledge... common sense tells me when it comes to speaker design, simple is good. I wish someone could shed some more light on the design. They went out of biz around '94, but I was not familiar with their lineup then... musta been doing something wrong though...

BTW I've sense enough to know that it's the woofer AND tweeter affected by the 1500hz crossover point... but it's those amazing tweeters handling alot of midrange that was key to the design from what I can tell.

Here's a picture of the speakers I mentioned before in this link from a few months back

Thanks for posting that link. Those are indeed very rare speakers and very cool speakers but if those have piezo tweeters they are not favored by most Norman Lab enthusiast. Models 431 & 631 have piezo tweeters and seem to be almost untameable. I've know a few guys that have tried resistance to tone them down without success and they wound up parting them out or selling them.
