------------------------------------------------------------------------
7-3-2010. i got all 50 receivers up and on line today,a few buddies brought in more speakers for sound, ready for the moment......

7-4-2010, 12:35pm, i woke up and went into my living room, and started lighting
up the stacks, 5 total, with 10 receivers in each stack,
12:50pm, all receivers are on and playing, had to tune each receiver to its sweet spot, this was a task that took me and my buddy 4 hours..
4:50pm, since it was the forth of july i decided to have some fun, so i lit the whole stack up and spun the master control,

5:30pm, the first sign of trouble, i felt dust falling on my head from someware.
i soon discoverd i was shaking my trailer apart, literaly, the main seem cracked holding the two sections together.

i really should have stopped here..

6:00 pm,
heat was really becoming an issue, it was 82 degrees outside and raining, with no air conditioning the tempature in my living room soared to 112 f with all of the equipment on and running.

7:15, funny smells coming from the walls, i felt the wall and it was hot, so hot it burned my hand,

7:16 pm, this is when **** started to hit the fan, me, billy and heath were franticly turning everything off and disconecting the gear, the living room started filling with smoke...

7:17 pm, my house was on fire. the voltage was just too much for the old wiring to put up with, the living room wall was burning from the inside.
i ran to get a crowbar, and stumbled over a pair of ar-3ax speakers, and hit the floor. it hurt.

7:18pm, i got the crowbar and ripped up the wall to get to the fire, after a 30 second time that felt like a year, i got the fire out.

by 7:30 the party was over, the electrical system in my house is shot, it arked threw the wall and blew out the main load box, burning all of the switches. lights out.

lucky me i saved my house and my gear, and everyone elses gear.

aside from a destroyed living room, and a spraind foot, a broken camera, and alot of shame, im ok.

sorry guys, no pics yet, have to wait till i get a new camera.
and im using my buddys computer to write this, im sleeping at his house untill i have power again, so sorry for the long wait for part 3..

shock and awe, what a ride!!

I assume you're still married and can hear?

That's terrifying; I'm glad it didn't end with anyone getting hurt. Must have made an unholy noise in action, though. Do you have any video/audio of this?

DUDE!! you split your trailer in half!! I know this whole thing is dangerous but that is buy far the best thing i have ever heard! , glad you are ok to tell the story!

I'm glad you are okay. That sure was a crazy fourth, wasn't it?

I'm wondering how your going to explain this to your insurance company? "Well, I was planning this shock and awe system....."

I'd say it was the current. You're always going have 120VAC in a house. But when you start attempting to pull 30A through your house wiring, things go wrong. Of course I'm being really general here to make a point, which you unfortunately saw in action.

Good to hear that you, friends, and the gear are all OK. But I don't think I would risk my only home with such an experiment.

Almost everyone here warned you of this. Glad you are OK. Some folks have to learn for themselves.
I would sell all my stuff and get 1 or 2 extra nice systems.

Dude, you are seriously one of the craziest people ever. Did you someone make a video of it that you are going to put on youtube??? Please say yes.

But seriously though? You didn't see this coming? I mean 50 receivers all being run at the same time which would make me think likely 75 watts draw per receiver on average x 50 of 'em = somewhere around 3700 total draw! Honestly, I'd be scared of doing that on a 30amp breaker... so yeah, you are pretty much totally insane though. Good to have an occasional big scare like that to serve as a lesson I guess. I remember when I had gotten used to playing with bug spray and fire when I was young... until I accidentally lit the entire bathroom wall on fire and about had a heart attack, I never played with fire again after that.

And besides, you should probably follow Jimfets advice and just get a decent single system that you can tweak with.

Ok , lets put a positive spin on this. Rob really needed new wiring in the house anyway.
So now you can wire up your place properly for phaze 4 ;)
Did you get some video???
When you first started talking about this, I was curious to know if you could split it down the middle................ now we know :)

No offense intended, but I call BS?

I'm a bit suspicious myself...evidently the trailer has no circuit breakers or fuses, or they're grossly oversized/bypassed.

Glad to hear that no one got majorly hurt and that only minor damage happened.

Here's hoping that you and the house mend easily.

I would normally put a picture here of a facepalm (the Capt Jean Luc Picard one is a fav) but I am too lazy.

epic fail

Indeed, though this deserves a Riker;

Well...at least no-one got hurt, I suppose. Lesson learned too, I would figure. Certainly is something to think about...just not sure what to think of it:scratch2:.

Unbelievable! Let's hope the National Enquirer doesn't get hold of it or folks are gonna think we a crazier than we are!
Regards,
Jim
