Am I the only one guessing that part of the aftermath of this whole adventure will be wholesale selling of audio gear to pay for house repairs?

I hope it all works out for the OP, and thanks for the entertainment!

While I do not wish to critisize nor to endorse anything that has been said or done (or claimed) in the last 7 pages, I simply must have my name in here somewhere, this is awesome internet!

Some people are so lacking in self-esteem and so desperate for attention that they will do anything to attract attention, without regard for the safety or property of others.

Immaturity and stupidity are nothing to crow about. Most people have enough sense to remain silent when making a complete a$$ of themselves. I guess you're not one of them.

The word pathetic doesn't cover it . . . perhaps pitiable . . . I concur, next time fill out an application for the Darwin award before you act.:thumbsdn:

Hey didn't Ben Franklin send a kite up into a lightning burst while holding the string?
Rob is a pioneer in his own unusual way. I just wish I could have seen/hear it!
Ok Rob, break time is over. Time to go get some electrical supplies ;)
The way I heard it was that Mr. Franklin used a Leyden jar for the termination of the conducting part of his kite string.

Pioneer, I dunno, unless you think the O'Leary's of Chicago Fire fame were pioneers.:sigh:

IMO, the one thing that Rob should not do is get his hands on electrical supplies. Some folks just have no business fooling with electricity.
Story: I got a call from a local customer one night. He asked me to come over and inspect his installation of an in-wall oven. He had tried wiring the device and the results were loss of power for his house and four of his neighbors. I still don't know how he did it. :scratch2:

Sorry to pick your post apart like this but I don't think Rob should be encouraged to proceed with anymore electrical experimentation. Besides the loss of gear, this could have ended with a lot more damage or injury.

I more or less believe it as well. Speaking for myself, I've done things at least as stupid, as I'm sure Ron can attest to.

I have never viewed any of your stunts as stupid, Mike.

Fearless would be the more accurate description :D There is a huge difference between the two.

Well the way I see it is Rob did this to impress someone, not sure who or why. Myself I am more apalled than impressed by the sheer stupidity and selfishness of this whole venture. He and his wife no longer have a place that is inhabitable, without electricity means no AC, no fridge = little food or any way to prepare it, most likely no stove, washer or dryer, no lights, obviously no tunes or TV. They may well if living in a trailer park be booted out for good for endangering the lifes of others and if renting almost a certainty.

And then he says when asked well was it worth it he replies yes. Sorry I dont get it. The only thing gained here was a spot on the worlds dumbest and most selfish list. You are not anyones hero for doing this, acting like a 10 year old when your in your 20's or 30's is nothing to be proud of

Rob is stupid like a fox for collecting All that gear for next to nothing.
And, he came totally clean about his mishap.

Yes real smart to risk all that gear :thumbsdn: and to brag about it online and say it was all worth it is not an act of contrition but further shows his reasons for doing this was purely selfish.

Perhaps you and Rob cant get a place together it's highly likely that his wife wont be with him after this. You could star in your own series the further adventures of Rob and JB.

Some people jump off mountains with parachutes.
Some bungie jump off bridges.
People ski and snowbaord in absurd places and pay high personal prices.
People do some very dangerous things with snowmobiles, motorcycles, cars, boats etc.
Folks experiment with rocketry and handle dangerous explosives in their garages.
Occasionally a numbnuts tries to climb an office building.
Rob just tried to turn on too many stereos at once.
Yes we all told him there was danger.
Yes there is little proof other than the pics of the stacks and Rob's testimony as to what happened.
I think that condemning him as selfish is a little mean-spirited.
Rob reached for the moon for all of us . LOL

If you choose to do most of these things that you mentioned, you are risking your life not the life and property of others.

Hey Jimmie, don't jump all over my Sh!t!
I did nothing to you. Back off Bizoh.
I wasnt jumping on you, I only wanted to make my point that IMHO that what he did wasnt smart heroic nor applaudable. And please dont call me any of your pet names.
