"Knob Feel"

Yup, knobs made of solid aluminum, and attached by setscrews are simply sensuous to turn. Plastic knobs, not so much, and I just HATE it when a cheap plastic knob wiggles...

This, exactly.

But I suspect that chintzy volume knobs besides their low cost also relate to fact that most folks just use the remote.
If most people don't touch it, why make it sturdy?

I think it's beautiful when a non-verbal disembodied hand meets a really nicely made knob and they truly love one another.

Is this one of those posts that is a subtle reminder that we have perhaps ran out of worthwhile topics?

I always play with the knobs on the cheap HTR gear at Fry's just so I can be smugly superior (in my own head of course) with how much nicer the switchgear on the stuff at home feels. My ex wife used to laugh at me when I explained what I was doing but I felt vindicated when I discovered that YouTube channel :)

The best feeling knobs IMO are on Onkyo TX-*500 gear. Beautiful machines aluminum and great feeling detents. Very well weighted knob on the tuner. Good stuff.

I love the feel of the buttons on my remote, and my ass on my couch lol. Only Amish folks get up to adjust the volume:D

Now DAMMIT, I was expecting a thread discusssiong the finer points of the high vicossity lubes used in potentiometers in high end audio equipment and I get this ?

I ant this month's dues back, and a 1970 Oldsmobile W34 Toronado, and a small Lear jet, and world peace, and a six pack of Budweiser, and two packs of Winston Select.

Whoever gets on things, get on it.

Actually you cn forget about the Winston Select, not onlyy can you not gt them anymore (which should endear them to y, nevermind...) also I stopped smoking (tobacco) in 2011.

Six bucks a pack and two packs every day. I have saved over fifteen grand. Now if I could just FIND that money I would be in good shape and looking to buy some speakers. Anyone see fifteen grand laying around ?

Oh dude, (or dudette) I have gone way beyond. I used to go with my universal remote, AND I KNEW THE SECRET ACCESSS CODES TO THE SERVICE MENU ! MWAHAAHAHAHAHA.

I could make the picture any color I like, you know, red, purple etc. I could make TVs do all kinds of things. I could also make them not work at all. I used to go to bars and F))) with their heads bigttimes.

I draw the line at some point though, I would not screw it up, and if I got into their cable box I would not order PPV movies n ****. Got to have SOME morals y'know. But really, they trreated me quite well after discovering my secret powers....
