Acoustic Research XA Platter Too Low

Hi everyone, I love my AR XA deck with it's heavy metal platter, but have a problem. When playing newer records that have been recorded on 180 gm vinyl and above in weight the platter starts to drag and grind as it spins. The weight of the vinyl literally pushes the platter down on the spindle...

    Aligning the AR XA arm

How exactly did you guys align your AR XA arm? My arm doesn't seem to be able to be aligned with the Baerwald or Simple alignment tools. I even tried the AR XA alignment tool but my arm won't go in enough to hit the point. I read a post by Marc Morin saying that spindle to tip should be 226mm...

Best way to remove stripped AR XA motor screws?

So now that everything is up and running sound wise (thank you all btw), I wanted to do some TLC on the motor. The only issue is that someone must have worked on it before, because both screw heads are stripped to the point where none of my drivers will bite into it and just pop out. Any ideas...

Now no left channel at all

Long story short, was using a crap soldering iron and the joints weren't great. Randomly the left channel stopped working. I got a better one, changed the rca port and soldered everything together, but now there's still no left channel. I've switched RCAs on the receiver and pretty much isolated...

AR XA soldering mess up. Humming through the roof

Long story short, I added RCA jacks to my AR XA. It was fine, but the ground wasn't long enough and seemed to be interfering with the suspension because it was so tight. I unsoldered it and added a new ground, which is pretty much just speaker wire crimped together. It's large, so it's somewhat...

Repair the AR XA dampening system?

I recently found an AR XA table in pretty decent shape at my local Salvation Army. This is my first record player ever and I'm super excited. I would really love to repair the dampening system, since I saw a YouTube video of it working and it looked awesome. I know I could just pull out the...

Fixing crackle and hum on AR XA table

I recently found an AR XA table at my local savlation army ($15!). I picked it up and it spun and even produced sound. I have it hooked up to a JVC RX-701v receiver. It seems to crackle and pop consistently, regardless of what record I play. I've cleaned the record and got a new stylus for the...
