    Why is there no abbreviation for "electrolytic capacitor"?

    I am a Dutch native speaker and common jargon term for this type of capacitor is "elco" ("electrolytische condensator"). In English this doesn't seem to exist. There is a company called Elco, a forum member and that's about it. Some people use the word "'lytic" but that doesn't have the same...
