    Sometimes you get lucky and the 30 year-old LD player that had been in the attic since 2011 still works. Pioneer CLD-D504 - dual side player. Supports Dolby Digital AC-3 by outputting it over an RF output, but otherwise analog only outputs.

    Since my new Nakamichi amp has a bunch of digital inputs, I've been trying to make the most use of them as the DACs on there really sound fantastic. I'm modding a Denon LA-2150K laserdisc to output the digital audio (yes, most laserdiscs had digital audio, though it was also analog-capable)...

    Laserdisc's CX audio vs PCM sound.

    What were the main differences? I know CX was analog and PCM is digital but did they have the same frequency response? A buddy of mine once told me that older laserdisc sound really sucked without having PCM, Dolby or DTS sound.

    Sony MPD-600 Laserdisc with 30 discs

    I have a Sony MDP-600 Laserdisc w/remote that works and is excellent in appearance with about 30 discs, mostly action movies from the mid 90's. It's been in the secondary system since my DVD and Blu-Ray took over. A few years ago friends of our visited from out-of-state and their teenagers...
