Sony MPD-600 Laserdisc with 30 discs

I have a Sony MDP-600 Laserdisc w/remote that works and is excellent in appearance with about 30 discs, mostly action movies from the mid 90's.

It's been in the secondary system since my DVD and Blu-Ray took over. A few years ago friends of our visited from out-of-state and their teenagers thought Laserdiscs were the coolest things and watched movies all night while we caught up. I always thought they were cool, but the majority of the laserdiscs I have are also in either DVD or Blu-Ray collection.

Is there a market for this? If so, what price would be fair to bundle it all together? I'd rather do one or two transactions than 31.

I'm in a similar place. I actually have a Sony MDP-333 I want to give away to anyone who can fix it (it probably just needs a laser alignment--I had Sony replace it but it never worked right after that). But I also have a stack of old LDs to get rid of, and I can't sell those either. Nobody wants them, and they could get expensive to ship. Most are replaced on far superior DVDs now, so I don't even know why anyone would even want them. I mean, who wants the washed out old pan/scan version of "Vertigo" when the DVD and BD version look so good? I still have some titles I have not replaced with digital, and I keep my old Pioneer DVL-700 on hand for those. I have some of those 8" music LDs that I've never seen reissued elsewhere.

So I'm all ears, too. I'd rather get rid of all of these locally since they likely are not worth even the shipping cost IMHO. And I don't want to throw them away. I know the LDs still have a tiny cult following out there, but beyond that, mainstream interest (so far as LDs were ever "mainstream" ;) ) seems to be nearly zero.
 
I inherited a stack of laserdiscs a month ago. Some FINE music/live performances on them, but I know not what to do. They sit, unloved.

I don't even have mine hooked up anymore. The LDs are all stored in boxes in the basement. I just don't have the room for it at this house. I'm hoping once life settles down and I can buy a bigger house (vs. renting temporarily--we're not sure which way we're headed yet), I'll be able to set up a basement "man cave" second system again, and get all my old gear back in action.
 
There is, absolutely, a market for decent LD players - and discs. Unfortunately, Sony LDs aren't regarded very highly in the LD universe. It's all pretty much Pioneer or Mitsubishi or Denon (both made by Pioneer), or a Panasonic LX900 if you can find one. If you found someone willing to give you $50-75 I'd take it and run (although several in good shape have sold recently for around $150). Also, I'd price the discs separately from the player.

Agreed on the Sony LD players. Mine was trouble all along, although I liked the audio and video quality. That is why I'd be happy for someone to take it off my hands for no cost, even if it's for parts.

I threw in the towel and bought the Pioneer DVL-700 as a demo. It's not a great DVD player, but it was a top LD player, and I keep it for that reason only. I sold my CLD-D406 to a buddy, who is storing it away for "future use." Whatever that means. :D

I guess that "tiny cult following" includes me. Anyone who wants to dispose of LDs, let me know. I'm always interested in stuff I don't have, particularly music/concerts. Shipping isn't as bad as all that, they can go media mail reasonably inexpensively.

This is a case where I'd like to dump the whole lot at once, and quite frankly, the titles I have are undesirables. :D If I can find out which box they are in, I can put a list up somewhere of which titles I have. Thign is, the pile keeps growing as I find more and more that were released on DVD or BD. It might be the excuse I need to start purging some of this stuff.

BTW, I have an ancient Pioneer LD-660 (?), an old top-loader. No digital audio, no chapter access, but that old thing still worked the last time I tried it. Maybe I'll ship it to the Smithsonian... ;)
