Polystyrene cap question
So I over the last week I ended up with two completely opposing take on some capacitors that has left me scratching my head. I was recently re-capping a DAC (don't ask) and someone (Guy #1) pointed out that the manufacturer was using polystyrene capacitors and that I *need* to replace them all... -
Where did Poly-Planar go? And how did they go?
For people who don't know them, they are a 1970's speaker manufacturer, all their speakers were made of polystyrene moved in a planar orientation (hence the name). Just like a conventional speaker, the polystyrene plane is moved with a voice coil but without any spiders to stabilize the "cone"...- simplyvolkol

HH SCOTT 233 rebuild
I just took possession of a very nice Scott 233, completely original as far as I could tell. I ran it up on a variac to 117vac , did a few voltage checks and set the bias and balance. Sounded pretty good a bit muddy and blurry and hum. I played it awhile anyway to get a good feel for it. Next I...- billyz
