    Sony TC-399 (similar to TC-377) low volume on right channel

    Hi ! Just finished a overhaul of a TC-399 i just acquired, took it all apart and lubed everything, changed the belts, cleaned monitor switches, pots, idler wheel, heads, captsan and pincher wheel (all cleaning was done using Isopropanol alcohol). Mechanically it works great ! Only problem...

    My Sony TC377 won't record but plays ok.

    My problem: It won’t record. Neither does it appear to erase. Inputs seems ok as needles swing on meters, audio quality from the “source” is fine via headphone jack. Simply: when I record it leaves the previous recording on the tape untouched, with nothing new laid down. The record lights...
