In real life, I have a real job and other commitments (family, Cub Scouts, church, community theatre) to take up the time it would take to attempt a project like that.

$1000 / 40 hr. = $25/hr
$1000 / 60 hr. = $16.67/hr

After taxes, you will be working another 6-8 weeks

Start somehow, remember it's a job, not a marriage. Stay aware of opportunities, beware of committing the resources of others, you are ethically responsible. Don't screw folks on the way, you need to keep all possibilities open. Know the law, err on the side of ethical behavior, legal but unethical is inexcusable and ultimately self-destructive.
Spend as little as possible on yourself, save what you don't fold back into the enterprize.

If I don't make $10K in 10 weeks this summer, I would be having a really bad summer. I am a contractor, and I already have lined up more than $10K in pressure washing and resurfacing/painting/staining decks for people's summer BBQs/graduation parties, etc. for extra money over the summer. Gotta make hay while the sun shines--pays for my toys.
