4) 'Feeling Yourself Disintegrate'; Flaming Lips, 'The Soft Bulletin'. Best group you've probably never heard. This whole album sounds like the soundtrack to some unmade science fiction flick. 'Disintegrate' is a soaring beauty of a song; subdued instruments and great vocals.

I love the Soft Bulletin. If I could only own 1 Lips album, that would be it.

I'm going to see them in concert (for the 3rd time) on new years eve. They do an amazing show if you ever have the chance to catch one.

good stuff. Over the Rhine has a great sound, sort of like the Sundays; will look into them...not crazy about Bjork's Medulla album, but I like a lot of her stuff (but have to be in the mood for it)...Regnia Spektor (wasn't she a James Bond villainess?) has a good sound, a bit piano-heavy for me...Keler W is good, a bit acoustic...I checked out Constance Demby and ordered one of her discs. GREAT stuff.

I agree about the Bjork - yet if you get in the sweet spot of that recording, its pure magic.

IMO of course, Regina Spektor is one of the most amazing artists to come along in many years - She presents a "cutesy" front but most of her songs are very dark. She is fearless.

Oh, for those who are fans of Mazzy Star, check out a band called Fiel Garvie, specifically the album "leave me out of this". Swirly, reverb laden late night songs.

Also, Hope Sandoval's solo project, "Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions".

got one of Fiel's albums the other day...oy!!! I'm totally hooked.:music:
GREAT music. what the flock's the matter with all these radio stations playing Sting ad infinitia nauseum??? and won't play tune one by groups like this.
got a Big Box Store gift card; time to do some downloading...
