12 AWG Vs Audiophile Cables

..............what invariably DOES happen is that when people can't see the cables, they can't tell them apart............

Sources for what? Listening for oneself? C'mon, Ken.

You're overlooking what I've bolded above.

.........Everyone's personal opinion is useless. What is useful is the true answer............

The true answer is useful for designers and for people who want to improve their system rather than their enjoyment of their system in the short term. I say short term because if one allows himself to get used to system improvements that he finds to be unappealing at first, he will probably learn to like them.

The true answer isn't as useful for someone who would rather enjoy his right now preference over true fidelity. I suspect that this type of someone makes up the majority although many would never admit it, even to themselves. It's OK to have personal preferences. We all do.

Using this logic, can we conclude that speakers that were not designed using your methodology, single ended amps, vinyl records and other highly subjective areas of audio are also invalid?

Not my point at all. But all those areas were originally developed using scientific methods.

Of course, and nobody could/would stop you from having a personal preference. I only try to point out the facts. What you want to do with them, if anything, is always your choice.

I'm starting to think that there's tons of "snake oil" products out there. And cables are one of them..
All though on analogplanet there was a test on tonearm wire to hear if you could tell the difference. I did.But it took me listening to the same track over and over about 50times worth to tell a difference.

Ken, been a lurker here for some time and have followed your career since your AR days.
Your credentials speak for themselves, and those who neither acknowledge nor understand the weight they bring to any discussion really have little purpose here.
We're all here to share and learn: it would be a sad thing to lose such a resource as yourself.

Just my 2¢.
(as a SuperMod on 4 other forums, I'll not say more....)
