I have both the Marantz 1060 and the Pioneer SA-6500II.

When Dave aka Grateful repaired and tested my 6500II he said the output was closer to 45wpc than 30 wpc. Both are nice sounding units. I think you'll be pleased with either one. :yes:

Nad 3020!!

I'll add my support for the NAD 3020. I have a 3020B that I bought new in the early 80's while in college. I took a dive off a table a few years ago and took a corner off the plastic faceplate. Still sounds great and is in use on the kids' computer. Some day I hope to find a parts unit with a good faceplate.

I also have a Marantz 1070 that I really enjoy. It may be a little colored compared to the NAD & others, but I really like the look, feel, and sound of that amp!

I had the Marantz 1030 drive EPI 150s in college (15 wpc). More than adequate for the married student housing I was in.

Marantz 1060. I have one and I've "almost" sold it numerous times, but I cannot. I'm more of a high-power guy but that little Marantz is sweet.

On a different note I have a Lafayette LR-1100 reciever from the late 60's, this isn't much more than 30W channel either but is has a certain magic as well.

I also have a nice little Sansui AU-505. I think it's rated about 20-25wpc. Bought it used for my son (his first system) and got it back when I replaced it for him with a Yamaha CR-800. I really like this little box. It's simple, well built and sounds very nice. We drove a pair of Bose 301's with it. Still do. Great sun porch unit.

Onkyo A-15 (30 wpc), a slim 16.5" wide by 3" tall, and it's slightly taller big brother, Onkyo A-25 (40 wpc), 16.5" wide by 3.25" tall. Externally these two amps differed only in the height, and the A-15 had only MM phono. The A-25 had MM and MC phono. Internally, the A-15 used a Sanyo Hybrid dual output chip, both channels in one big module (STK463). The A-25 used a stereo driver chip (STK3042) and two separate output chips (STK1050).

Silver face. Most of the controls, except for source and volume, are hidden under a swing down door. And did I forget to mention?... it has METERS.

The T-15 was an analog tuner and matched both the A-15 and A-25. The T-25 was a digital tuner that matched both amps.

This is on the high end of the power range you specified, but I have to mention the Kenwood KR-710. I have one, and it's a great-sounding little receiver from the early '80s. Makes a decent 28wpc at very low distortion and sounds great, and also has a simple but rather good 3-gang FM tuner. Doesn't hurt that they are cheaper than dirt on eBay.

Just realized you did not limit it to SS amps so add Sherwood S1000, S5500, S5000, Dyna SCA-35, EICO HF12. A rebuilt SCA-35 is an amazing amp as is the Sherwood S5000.
