And Southdale wins.

Yup, they tore down the local strip mall of my youth to make a swamp. Ah, progress.

Actually, the plan was to tear down everything and let the property revert to wetland, but the city reneged a little and let some developer put some housing units there. Can't give up ALL that taxable property, you know.

Maybe 11 or 12 years old- it was either the "Butterfly Ball" with Dio on the title track vocals (still have it) or it was Cat Stevens Best Of. Funny- they both still sound as good as ever!

It was a mail order KTEL record with different artists on it! I remember Steely Dan's "Ricky Don't Lose That Number!" and "Junk Yard Dog" by somebody? :)

This is catharsis--

Can't believe I ever considered hiphop as legitimate music, but hey, I was 15 and finally had a paycheck.

I just remember one line from the whole crappy cassette, "We rap 'cause we can't sing."

Maybe that line should have been my first clue...

"My name is Jeff, and I used to listen to hiphop..."

Alice Cooper-Love it to Death. I would like to add my first album was given to me by my grandmother."Meet The Beatles" I still have it and it is my favorite album cover

Hmm....I think I bought two at the same time, so I'll consider those my first purchase.

AC/DC - Dirty Deeds
Supertramp - Breakfast In America

Was an RCA 10" album by Sauter-Finnegan Orchestra which had Doodletown Phifers and Moonlight on the Ganges on it as well as some others. Heard it on a Heathkit mono setup in 1952 or 3 or so. It was the highest fi I had ever heard at age 13 or 14.. Went to the local record store, bought it and then started building a Heathkit based system to replicate what I heard. About to get there, some many years later......

1974 - Uriah Heep Live, Deep Purple Made in Japan. Double live albums seemed like a great deal for a teenager with limitted funds. Still spin these today.

Uriah

My grandmother gave me me the same album. The counterfit VJ version from KB toys bargin bin or something like that.

Actually my first purchased album was several because it was a box set. In 1969 I bought the Complete Bach Organ Works in a Vox Box Set. To demonstrate my eclectic taste in music my second album was Iron Butterfly's In-A-Godda-Da-Vida. I still have both of them. :music:
