2017 Sansui Serial Number Database

217011668 is a valid number and it isn't already listed so we'll go with it. No rush on the AU-7700. Whenever it's convenient.

I have a few other pieces of Sansui equipment at home: a set of 4 SF-2 speakers, another receiver (can't remember which off the top of my head), an RA-500 and a QS-1. I can add their serial numbers next time I get home.

Interesting. That actually turns up a potential flaw in the model record that tripped up the date detection coding. That serial number is tied to a TU-719 that was entered into the database in April of 2005. When the TU-719 was originally set up in the database it was assigned a "decade reference" of 1979, meaning the earliest production was in 1979. The program looks at the decade reference. If the third digit is lower, it assumes the production was in the next decade. In this case there are several TU-719 produced in 1980.

If that serial number is correct, this unit was produced in 1978 and is the only example produced that year. The next ones on file were produced in January of 1979 so it is the earliest one on file and with a production number of 0005 it could quite possibly be the 5th one produced.

Thanks for pointing it out. I'll revise the decade reference so any other TU-719s produced in 1978 will have the production date decoded correctly.

I think the T-700 is incorrect as well. Mine is the 486075558 and I know for a fact its an 80s model the rest of my black units are showing 1986 from your database except this one which is showing 1976.
 
I think you're right. It looks like an '80s unit more than a mid '70s unit. I'll make the change. Thanks.

Turns out almost all of those 80's T-xxx tuners were mismarked. I've updated all the records. Oddly, the matching amps have the correct decade reference.

Correction, I gave you two AU-20000's with the same serial number by mistake. The serial number of the second AU20000 is :

Also a 7000 but the serial number is missing the last couple of digits: 221040??? Is the serial number anywhere else on the unit? Or only the yellow sticker?
 
Wow, a busy week here.

Drew 13, the serial number is on the sticker. Sansui put one of the stickers on the back of the unit, one on the shipping box and I believe one on some of the paperwork that came with some of the units. If you don't have the box or the papers, then sadly, the damaged number is all we have. Since the date reference is intact, I'll add it to the database with the question marks. I recorded all the numbers you posted.

I do have a pair of these they each have a red sticker on them, one speaker has the serial number on it that I gave to you the other red sticker on the other speaker has "Lot No.47" and "287" but no serial number. It doesn't look like there was another sticker, but there could have been. I haven't opened them up, have you ever seem any inside the cabinet?
