Thanks guys, got 'um!

@peterott Did you notice if the 8010 was a general export model?

@SKAGIT RIVER, your 5000A was built on line 22 in June 1970. It was the 36th unit off that line that month. Looks like ling 22 was only building 5000As that month.

@PE9ZZ, In addition to AU-33s line 57 was also building RG-7s and AU-D55F that month. I'll put it in as a production duplicate.

Almost forgot. I was pulling Serial Numbers off eBay US the other day and came across this very early 2000 Receiver. What makes it interesting is it's the earliest production of the 90 units we have on file, it's the only one built on line 8 and it has a blue SN label.

I'm hoping I'm not the only one that finds this trivia interesting.

@LBPete, here is the plate of that 8010, no better pic available:
I used brightness and contrast for a better pic in that zoom-level, and all of a sudden: do I see a T-tag there as well??

@peterott, thanks! That 8010, like all the rest that I've seen, is a general export models. The tag lists 4 input voltages. And yes, that's a T-tag. I'll add that to the serial number.

@JanSah, welcome to AudioKarma Exclusively Sansui. Thanks for posting your serial number. Your 9090DB was built on production line 82 in October of 1977. It was the 65 unit off that line that month. At this time line 82 was dedicated to building 9090DBs, 8080DBs and their black trim variants.

@LBPete: new numbers for your PDF

It's also fun to know that the 607MR changed from T-tag to "no T-tag" within it's production time. I recognised it by accident.

T-tags for 6051xxxxx and 60602xxxx

T-tag removed for 6070xxxxx, though "SANSUI" still mentioned.

@peterott Thank you for all the detail. Interesting that they would change the silk screening on the back plate during production. We have 195 AU-alpha 607MRs on file. They ere in production from October '95 to September '97. Many of the serial numbers for ones manufactured in '95 and '96 indicate a T-tag but none of the 80 or so from '97 have a T-tag. Today's Serial Number Tidbit.

@LBPete, I made a mistake from my update kw12:
=> please delete: AU-717,227063153,ebay.de.

The thing turned up on kleinanzeigen again, and could zoom better into the serial number and recognised my mistake that the last "3" is actually an "8".

This needs to be added:
AU-717,227063158,kleinanzeigen

@peterott Thanks, I made the change to 227063158. That's a very interesting CD player. Does it play laser discs as well?

- Pete
You mean the CL-900XV? I have not the slightest idea to be honest :dunno:
Front says "LD Player", so it could be possible. But I guess - for a 100% secure answer - you need to find the operating manual :)

Rare indeed. Thanks guys. I'm going to process the March serial numbers now. Anything posted after this will be in the April batch.

- Pete

@LBPete: We have duplicate manufacturer part-numbers... There is a SP-1000 and probably a 20 years older SP-1000 :(
My two serials from the last harvest above are the newer SP-1000s from 1990(?) and I guess all the other 9-digit versions in our database are too
Just recognised that from browsing my old links from the harvest mail above, as audiokarma messed a bit up these links when converting my full html://-link and the following remark that was divided from the link with a comma into a "Der Sansui Thread" and messing up the comma+remark at times into the link.

Old SP-1000 (the serial will be in my next harvest mail):
SP-1000_old1.jpg
SP-1000_old2.jpg

Newer SP-1000, bigger brothers of the SP-100i:

@peterott Why am I not surprised that Sansui would re-use a model name?

We have 23 SP-1000s in the database. Looking at them in the database the first surprise is they were all entered into the database after December 2020. That seems unusual for a model that was introduced in the late 1960s. It was a 2 way variant entered that month. The 3 way variants didn't show up 'till June 21. So both variants are relatively rare.

Most have either 3 way or 2 way listed in the note field. I'm guessing this model overlap has been discussed before and has been addressed by indicating the number of drivers. I have no memory of that discussion. All the 3 way variants were built on line 99 or 90 and have 8 digit serial numbers. All the two way variants were built on line 92 and have 9 digit serial numbers.

I'm going to continue to enter them the same way and we can use the production line to determine new or old.

Here are the stats from this month's upload:

381 serial numbers posted. 370 processed after duplicate posts removed.

353 new serial numbers entered into the database today including two production duplicates and one decade duplicate.

Thanks to all this month's contributors!

- Pete
