2252B meter lamps

I want to replace my lamps and I'm wondering why the meter lamps are
300ma and the dial lamps are 200ma. It looks like the meter lamps are tinted blue? I wonder why Marantz did this. I'm planning on ordering lamps from Dave Dgwojo and wondering if I should get 300ma for the meters or just a whole set of 200ma. Also...will LEDs be brighter? That silver dial series Marantz lights aren't alltogether that striking. I replaced the vellum and the white function indicator lights are far too bold compared to the blue dial numerals and meters.....thats prolly why they updated later 2252B productions to the blue function indicators.....It sounds pretty good though.....:D

Sounds like someone has been playing around as all the lamps should be the same. The LED's may light up the tuning meters a little better. They are often dim because the plastic diffuser is browning.

I just bought some lamps from Dave ,very good service by the way.

He sent me some 300ma lamps for the meters but said I could use either those or the 200ma ones.

I put 200ma lamps in the entire receiver and it looked fine.

The "stereo" lamp however is not the standard 12v bipin - the 2252b takes a 12v lamp with lead wires kinda like the dial pointer lamp.

Hope this helps,Bob

Hey Bob...Thanks....I just ordered the lamps from Dave. I thought the stereo red/white lead lamp was 8v.
...Thats what I ordered....

I replaced the lamps in my 2252b and the stereo lamp was also out.

I wanted to make sure it was the lamp and not a problem with the fm detection circuit so I measured the voltage at the lamp terminal posts and got 10.8 vdc.

I made the assumption that it would be a 12v lamp.

I too order my lamps from Dave but have not asked him about this yet.

I've searched some threads here and visited Daves website and it all says 8v stereo indicator lamp....Now I'm confused :scratch2:

Who is Dave and what is his website? I need to pick up a few bulbs or at least find out what they are for my 2226B.

Hi, I checked with Dave and you are correct in using 8v lamps on your 2252b.

My lamp was burned out (open) giving me a higher no load voltage on the junction points than if testing with a working lamp in the circuit.

Take care,Bob

Wheeeew.....Thanks Bob :beerchug:

2252b

So are they really bulbs or are they fuse bulbs? Id like to get them coming before i pull mine out of service. Seems like i remember fuse bulbs if so i can get them with my next order at p.e. as long as 250ma is close enough. I hear stock was 200ma and i like uniformity
For some reason i think 250ma is more available.please advise. Thanks guys.

Blue vs White Fuselamps

On some Receiver models, Marantz installed Blue 8V @ 300mA fuse lamps on the meters only.
Reason: Some customers complained that the meters were not Blue enough.

Before you consider any fuse lamp replacement, I would suggest you read my Thread "200ma vs 250ma or300ma fuse lamps in Marantz Products"
