Not mine, no interest. Somebody could make a few bucks selling these one by one, maybe...or a group buy...or who knows. Not mine, no interest, etc.

You don't have this home yet Wiggy??? :D

Tube lots are like LP lots; you never can tell what you're getting but most of it you don't want.

willing to bet if there was a large some of good audio tubes, they be long gone

That's the problem. The vast majority of tube types are not worth $0.25 each because they have no current use. There would need to be a bunch of the common audio / guitar amp types in there to make it worthwhile.

This is true. Once I bought a huge box of tubes at the swap meet, like 100 or so in the box for $20. I thought I scored because most were NOS Tung Sol. Well, there were only FIVE that were of any use, and the other 95 or 95% of them were bizarre TV or something or other tubes. I looked them up, and they were worth next to nothing even in NOS form. Worthless.

Gotta be creative. Compactrons seem to have some value, depending on what they are. I understand what you're saying, though.

He had these listed for awhile, this must be a relist...

I emailed about 3 weeks ago and asked him to send me some close up pictures of the boxes so I could gage the type of tubes. He refused and told me to make an appointment beacause he had a lot of interested parties.

I bet all the audio tubes are gone and unless you need to re-tube a TV, there is nothing of value left.

Well, some of the guys here can get very creative with a lot of those old TV tubes, but that being said, just because some darn smart guys can do wonders with them doesn't mean they're a pot of gold.

Q. So why doesn't Mr. CL flip them on eBay for fun and profit like he suggests...:D

A. Because he'll get like $9.99 for 161 tubes, that's why.....

You may be right, but it's also possible that he doesn't want to run a part-time business selling them and just wants to sell them in one shot. That's why there are distributors and retailers, eh?

I don't know. I think he's being way optimistic on the opportunity here.

Put it this way, would you pay $1150 for 4500 Salvation Army records...

Basically, the same sort of deal....

And, no you can't donate them back and write them off on your taxes :D

Could be a honey pot, could be a crap pile. No way to know without taking a look. I've made some great tube buys in bulk that lots of others ignored.

This refusal makes me very leery of any gold in there...
Why would anyone with half a brain refuse to assist someone with better pics in an $1150 sale unless it was a pile of trash that once seen would not further interest buyers.

"A lot of interested parties" and no sale in 3 weeks doesn't exactly bode well either.

FWIW, I don't think I'd pay $1150 for 4500 12AU7s and I'm sure they have more value and useful applications than probably 99.99% of the stuff this seller has...

I would pay $1,200 for 4500 NOS 12AU7's if I were a tube seller. But I can imagine that the major tube sellers have already seen that listing and passed.

Yeah, I guess I would too as I probably could get at least a buck a piece for them.

I just used that as a bad example of a useful, but quite common tube, probably because I have a couple dozen commons lying around here I should try and sell...:D

But then again there's a dozen smallish boxes of other oddball stuff here that demands far less money. I sold over 100 assorted little 7 pin tubes a while back in BT for $15 or so...
