462 or 452

I gave a lot of thought to running two 7300s in mono; I could never find a second 7300 for a decent price. I have to say the 7300 is a fine sounding amp; I have Tannoy speakers which don't need a lot of power, so the 452 is overkill power wise, but the improvement in sound is clear. When you put on your wife's favorite album with the new rig and she cries b/c of the beautiful sound, you know you hit it out of the park.

I've run 2600s in mono for a few years now. Recently, one had to be serviced. Rather than redo the whole wiring scheme, I just put a spare 2500 in service and a spare set of RCAs to it and temporary wiring to the speakers. Now, I'm questioning my sanity. The guy I sold my 7300 to also uses it to power Tannoys - the ones with dual 15s per. I also question my sanity on selling that amp . . .

Also, it is likely that your 7300 may have needed some refreshing. The PS caps in my 2600 had gone to meet their maker . . . so, comparing the sound of a 30yo amplifier which hasn't been refreshed to a brand new amplifier may not be so cut and dry.
