We've discussed this guy before.. Someone in the city wants the building is what it really appears to be..

I remember the previous discussion but thanks for the link to news clip.

I saw a box with a Stax logo on it. a box full of sealed records from Stax?

Old vinyl being compared to gasoline. Something just doesn't seem right here. If it were explosives ok, but this is a warehouse. Jeez.

them records would need some sort of accelerant to burn like they say ..the place is yards from fire station what better insurance can you get . ?
p.s ever burnt a vinyl record ? i have they don't burn too well as it happens

I wonder how many warehouses have a similar volume of potentially flammable material in storage?

And how does the Housing Court have any jurisdiction over a warehouse?

Weird.

I think the problem might be if a fire were to start them things sure DO burn, just needs a bit to get 'em going....and then!!...... the smoke would be unreal and really unpleasant, not to mention REALLY TOXIC. So maybe there is cause for concern.

Being within a stone's throw of a fire station is no guarantee of anything. I've seen places burn that were located directly across from a fire house.

I can not figure out how a housing court can order house arrest. Seems counterproductive to the objective of reducing the risk of fire. I hope he finds a buyer or maybe some volunteers to help set up proper storage and save them. I would cry if the collection were destroyed.

It does seem he may have benefitted from a good attorney in this case.

Seems like a plausible explanation.

Then, you get television reporters who don't know sh!t from shinola accepting whatever explanation the person who wants the building hands them. "You know, there are any number of cases of buildings full of records have just spontaneously exploded, so we're talking that this is a serious public health concern."

Oh, gee. Yeah.

That said, the fire threat seems like it might be something like a tire fire.
