14 years ago I helped a friend clean out his dad's house. Lots of audio equipment, and tons of albums. He did some measuring and counting and figured out a average per linear foot of albums. He estimated there were ~40,000 albums. So... yeah... it's possible. I never want to see that much vinyl (that has to be moved) again....ever.

I would bet the guy is a longtime record dealer who is getting rid of the classic "records nobody wants" collection (101 Strings, Johnny Mathis, Herb Alpert, et cetera).

And even if it's not the first guy that goes through it will pull out all the good ones and turn it into the "records nobody wants" collection. I can't even imagine looking through 60000 records much less buying them.

Come on give me a break cause if you believe this then I've got land to sell you,Swamp Land!I'm a Senior myself and a Music lover and Musician for over 55+ yrs and have been down all the roads you state for most of those yrs and still could not even get close to to those numbers for many different reasons and I repeat my above and original statements because they seem tho most logical way to go then to come up with improbable answers for the most part:scratch2:

I have a friend with estimate 50,000 lps. The basement is wall to wall metal shelves full of lps. (I'll take some pics next time I go over). She goes every Friday and Saturday to yard sales and will buy anything if it's cheap enough. She puts them on ebay starting at .99 each. She's retired and that's how she suppliments her income.
