I imagine it would be fun to beat on it a little, not in the corners though. those cable operated clutches in GM trannys of that era kinda suck though..

From someone who has put a lot of time and money into cars that the world would consider worthless, I get it. I don't get this specific one, but sometimes having "one of one" is reason enough. Everyone owns a Camaro or a Mustang, but how many people own a Citation that could surprise one?

That said, the early FWD platforms really did handle poorly. This might be fun in a straight line but I bet its scary as all get-out on a turn and probably torque steers like a mofo,.

The question I have is: How big of a shoe horn did he need to make it fit?

Probably not as big as you might expect. That series of Caddy motor was not all that physically large. Its also not tremendously heavy, which is a good thing for this setup.

FWD + high torque output = terrible handling qualities....my friend`s father had a `66 Olds Toronado (FWD), I think it had a 425 cubic-inch motor in it. We quickly discovered that it was a good idea to have the car pointed in the direction you wanted to go before flooring the throttle....:D

I think that is hilarious combo. How much fun for a mere $2500.00? The statement definition of a crappy car with too much engine. More like a work of art. Stupid, useless, do-it-because-you-can art. Love it.

If I were closer and sported a mullet, I would have to offer $2250.00...

While I will admit that's pretty cool, I'm not a fan of the various Caddy motors descended from the HT4100.

I'd have gone supercharged Buick 3.8 myself :D

Probably not as big as you might expect. That series of Caddy motor was not all that physically large. Its also not tremendously heavy, which is a good thing for this setup.

Till the flimsy X body front suspension ( smaller strut assys ) and cradle frame collapses under the weight of it all ....420 lb Cad 4100 V8 vs 350 lb for the 60 ° Chevy V6

Those things fell apart on their own without any additional weight or torque burdens if they didn't rust out first ...............
The HT4100 was prone to failure of the intake manifold gasket due to scrubbing of the bi-metal interface, aluminum oil pump failure, cam bearing displacement, weak aluminum block castings and bolts pulling the aluminum threads from the block. It may not have been the most successful engine to sit under the hood of a Cadillac, but potential buyers were no more satisfied with the other two engines available at the time, the V8-6-4 and the Oldsmobile 5.7 L Diesel. Reliability issues soiled the reputation of the HT4100

For Sale is my longtime project car, a 1981 Chevrolet Citation X-11, with a fuel injected Cadillac V-8 GM crate engine installed. I ave invested alot of time and money into getting this to work properly inside the citation:

The 1981 4.9L V8 Citation X-11 manual 4-speed, - needs no introduction. Approx 12K+ miles on a GM crate engine, all new parts installed at the time of the engine swap: VDO oem style gauges, suspension bushings, balljoints, struts, shocks, rear springs, brakes, master cylinder, radiator, condenser, steering rack( rebuilt original x-11 sport steering ratio ), shift cables, clutch cable, heater core, high volume fuel pump, higher capacity fuel tank, kevlar clutch kit, custom exhaust with flowmaster 3 dual mufflers and a high flow cat, etc, all installed at the time of the engine swap. Runs like a bat out of hell, sounds amazing, Sooo much fun to drive, but the body is in rough shape, needs some love from a good rust repair and paint guy.

Over $7000 invested in the car in parts, asking $2500 OBO

This is priced to sell. For anyone whoever wanted to own a V8 Citation X-11, this is your chance to get it! Addtionally, if you have a pristine citation, X-body, or A-body GM car( celebrity, ciera, century, omega, skylark, phoenix, etc ), or Pontiac Fiero already, and wanted that extra V8 power, the entire engine swap is easily transferable to another of those vehicles or another citation, take all the guesswork out of your swap, and save a TON of money by buying this one, plus you will have a very nice Interior optioned Citation to pull parts from. '81 x-11's arguably have the best Interior options out of all the years. This one has the Faux leather/vinyl black interior with chrome trim on the interior, it really pops visually in person.

here's a few pics and a video of the '81 4.9L V8 Citation X-11 being started and revv'd
