9090db floating resistors???

Quick question:

For the 'snap-in' type caps... how do you best/most easily retrofit these for use with the solder lugs?

Seems like it could be a PITA to me (I had a frustrating experience with this once before-getting ring terminals to stay on the snap-in leads), but I'm going to go ahead and order those Panasonics.

Ne'ermind... EW answered this somewhere else.

I've read other threads that say to 'just crimp' (the ring terminal), but I've had serious issues with that in the past (doesn't hold!), and ended up soldering. Seems logical.

All electrolytic caps have now been replaced, also all fusible resistors on the driver board, but now the unit does not come out of protection (even with driver board removed).

I've also replaced the "greenie" caps on the protection board and some resistors on the protection board mentioned earlier in this thread.

I successfully set the bias as well.

Any thoughts here?

I'll try testing all output transistors. Although--I'm inclined to think it's something with the protection board instead, as the unit was working before (but resistors were lifted, caps were blown on the protection board)...

If it does not come out of protection with the driver board removed, how could the driver board be at fault?

Standard procedure: Check all fuses (remove and meter them), and measure & confirm all supply voltages...regulated and unregulated. If they are are good, then it's time to look at the protection circuit itself (things like a dead/dying relay driver transistor are not uncommon).

on the older version of th 9090db and 8080db, there are several capacitors had the wrong polarity printed on the silkcrenn.

2 on the power board for sure...

Thanks guys, fixed the issue-- there was *one* cap C01 on the protection board I forgot to put in (it was the first board I began recapping months back).

Popped in a 33uF 50V, and we're good-to-go.

Have a slight/moderate humming now (pronounced when Phono sources are selected), wondering what's causing that. I have a NPE 33uF/50V in C01 on protection board right now for a few days while I wait for my radial polarized cap to come in-- I know I've heard some NPEs can introduce noise to the circuit when used where a polarized cap is specified, so hoping this is it.

Thanks again.

These amps have some interesting shielding methods!? Put the bottom cover and faceplate on, hum is gone, all is good. About to put a bow on this one.

Awesome sounding unit!
