Check ebay and see what the going price is. The seller might have seen one that had been completely rebuilt that went for that price and assumed that his was worth that much. You know how people are. On the other hand, he might have just made it all up. Ebay is a good place to start if you need to know the value of something, but use common sense in judging the condition.

One could utilize 2-3 accounts to put an item with a silly Buy Now price that will never sell and then quote these as street prices.

About 400 to 500 is average. It has been in storage 15 years so it will need some rubber replaced. 1800 new though, just not allot of cassette guys left.
It would sell fairly fast for 300, and thats about right for what it might need.
