I`ve never really heard any ADS .I heard a pair briefly at the Kutztown radio show a couple years ago and they sounded kinda bright out in the open pavilion . Don`t remember the model but they looked similar . How is their bass response?

There must have been something wrong with them if they were "bright," smooth and warm are the words I would use to describe my smaller L400s. With their sealed cabinets they produce deep bass, and the silk dome tweeter is not shrill in the least.

What kind of music do you listen to Butch? I would say the ADSs I have heard are best with jazz, classical and vocal music. They are not as dynamic as say JBLs which would be better IMO on like hard rock and rap, but the ADSs are accurate and have been used as monitors in recording studios.

It says the L520s have an 8 inch woofer so I am guessing the L1s too. But with the sealed cabinet an 8 inch can go as low as some 12 inches in a ported cabinet IF you have the amp power as sealed cabinets are less efficient.

I`m listening to a pair of jbl l46`s now and love them . But I`m looking for my son who is moving into a house next week . He has a pair of jbl l20t`s now and loves them . I thought I would try to find him a little larger set since he has more room now .

It's been too long since I heard L20t to compare, but the ADS will have almost 1/2 octave more bass extension. (If you're really paying attention here, yes I did notice the JBL spec is -6dB, but the +/-3dB ADS spec is also functionally a -6dB spec on the bass end).

I think I`ll go listen to them . He has been posting them for the last 6 mo. at least . I`m tired of seeing them on CL .

PLEASE. Get Them.

They are basically L520s with modern cabinets (grille size is unique to this model only), which are, as I am hearing, ADS best 2-way next to the mighty and surprising L690.

They have the Braun style, small diameter stifflite dust cap (206-0323) which gives them somewhat of a midrange advantage over the 206-0355 cloth dust cap.

I love the beveled rubber surrounds and the resin encased magnets on ADS's smaller woofers (4, 5, 6, 8, 10).

They look like L570s with an L520 woofer, I wonder if the crossover is the same as the L520 or if it is like L570. Because I know the L690 is the 570 in a tower-- I am not sure about the crossover, though. If you'd be willing to note inductor, resistor and capacitor values, I'd probably be able to sketch out the dichotomy. If you'd please?

Great speakers, I just know it!!
