a/d/s M12's

Anyone have any experience with a/d/s M12 towers? Picked up a pair this weekend and the bass seems non-existent. I've a lot of good things about the company and wanted to try a pair out.

Yes, it be the cross-over related but first I have to figure out where it is and how to access it. The speaker connectors are on the bottom of the towers and after removing one, I couldn't find it.

Yes, thanks I went through that site the other day. Just looking for help to remove the drivers and figure out where the crossover is hidden.

Removing the drivers would entail unscrewing them from the front, based on this pic there should be 4 screws.

Once unscrewed pull the driver out towards you slowly. You should be able to peek inside at that point to spot the crossover.

I know this is an old post but I have to comment. Swanky it's obvious you've never removed a driver from ADS M-12 before. Yes there are a lot of posts but you could spend valuable hours reading them before finding the information you're looking for. The drivers are countersunk and are held in by some kind of adhesive with no area on the front of the driver to grab onto or even insert a small screwdriver without damaging the the speaker box with little screwdriver imprint pry marks. There are two methods that I found that work. First Unscrew the drivers then place the speaker on the floor with the drivers facing down and the top area supported but be careful not to damage the tweeter. Now you have a little air between the floor and the drivers. Proceed to gently jar the speaker untill the drivers start to pop out. Have something soft between the floor and the driver so if they come out with too much force you don't damage the dust covers or anything else.
The second method that works and is probably preferable is to play the speakers with a lot of bass and volume and the drivers should vibrate out of their enclosures but be prepared to catch them. The crossover is directly underneath the bottom driver but you'll have to pull the padding out to see it. Each driver appears to have its own sealed off enclosure so you couldn't get to the crossover from the upper woofer opening. I hope that helps anybody in the future.

I had luck with removing the binding post plate at the bottom of the speaker and reaching in with my hand to push at the back of the bottom woofer. For the top woofer I had to use the jarring approach you stated above.

I have a set, have never touched them, and they also are bass anemic. Other threads point to the inductor, which needed upgrading. And others have indicated that the butyl surrounds get hardened with age and lose their elasticity. To get inside requires removing the lower woofer. I have never tried to do it myself, as I fear my limitations are such that they would end up in even worse condition. I hope for the few M12 owners out there that some day, a tutorial is made.

and in it he has a picture of the method used to yank a long-seated driver out of the cabinet. We see this question every year or two, now we have a great picture of how to use an oversized screw to grab the driver and pull it up. He has the brace across the speaker for leverage and it sure makes it look easy. Thanks for posting that picture.
