A horny start

devoid

NA Volvos and Amplifiers
That's where the dual HPM-100 setup has left me. But there's something lacking about the midrange purity / clairity / cleanlyness that's got me horny. I want to start experimenting with some bits and peices I've collected.

For drivers I have this:

1. A big ass pair of midrange horns
2. Two pairs of Magnavox console horns
3. A pair of JBL 15" three way PA's. Only the tweeters are horns
4. A pair of Peavy 15" three way PA's. Again only the tweeters are horns. Black Widow bottoms.
5. A pair of Heil ESS tweeters for way top end.
6. A pair of Infinity EMIT tweeters for different top end.
7. Lots of sweet and grunty silicon and various vacuum power.

I really don't know were to start. At this point it's a matter of labor, time and nickles and dimes. I wish I could go out and buy some Klipsch or EV but where would the fun be in that anyhow? I want to play too. What DIY sites and books I can read up on? Do's and Don'ts. I've been waiting for a whole new approach. The little snipets I hear of horns really turns me on.

My son (or daughter, possibly), you have set your feet on the road to Hell.

Music was not intended to be listened to, because that implies that the music is played.

Music was not intended to be played, because that implies the participation of musicians.

Music was not intended to be played by musicians, because that implies interpretation.

Interpretation sullies and loses forever the original meaning of the content.

Get yourself a copy of the bible, learn to enjoy music as the composers meant it to be enjoyed, by reading, not listening, and mend your ways.

You'll thank me for this, someday. Oh, and you won't be needing all that excess gear; just send it to me and I'll keep it safe. :D

I think for starters I'm going to bench test the bits I have and get to know there voices. A mono temporary prototype thing. This will call for days of from work to spend good with it and do it right. Don't want to rush to a sonic mishap.

??? I'm not sure what you’re getting to but I'll just state this: For me music dwells in my spirit, my mind and as it enters my being PHYSICALLY, I'm horny.

I should read the book though. It may further cultivate my intuition of music, that medium of expression that is universal through out the cultures and spoken languages and transcends language itself in depth and emotion.

I'll shut up know.

Post up some pics and/or model numbers for these things! You might have some REALLY usable parts here...

For starters these are most of the PA's I have and of coarse the Pioneers.

OOOH... I see all sorts of potential.

The Peavey speakers have Audax PR170M0 7" midrange drivers. Absolutely one of the FINEST cone midrange drivers ever developed, ANYWHERE.

The JBL speakers have 2118H (or 2119H, they're the same) 8" midrange drivers and 2226 15" woofers. And probably 2425 horn drivers, too. All VERY good stuff.

Need to ponder a bit on how to exploit these in the most effective fashion. Will get back to the thread later... :D

Regards,
Gordon.

Looking at that silicon pic. I gotta go move some of those amps off that poor little table before I have gravity sculptures.

Some more picture fun and some more bits. I want to do something with those wizzer drivers I pulled from a Fisher cabinet. And that amp is a Zenith from a small console with the original "made in Holland" tubes.

Got into the PA cabs tonight. Oh well is what I can say about it. The mids and lows are all toast with fried voice coils. At least I think that can be repaired. Never went in that far, should be intresting. The Peaveys are 1505-KADT and the JBLs are 2226H. I don't think I can save the Audax's though. Bummer.

On the positive side the four horns are good. I really liked the sound of the Peavey 22XT's. I was thinking, this may be a bad idea but what the hell, I've got a pair of woofers from some CS-99s and a pair of Morel four inch dome mids. Shouldn't take too much to load them into the Peavey cabs. It'd be a start.

They were a ten inch two way system with a ten inch passive radiator on the back of the cabinet.
