A rare Sony ESPRIT trio

Listened to my TA-N86 for the first time today. Awesome in Class A.
Very controlled bass. Listened to it over the TA-E88 and my CDP-R1/DAS-R1

Hi Harolda,

Didn't you also have an TA-N7?

What's your take on these two amps?

It would be interesting to know your opinion as an owner of both of these amps!

Hello Pierre,

i do have a TA-N7B, it is being restored. It works fine, but i decided to take all the precautions and upgrades. You can find more info on the restoration in the post:

Ok thanks Harold. I guess the comparisson wil have to wait a bit. Are you doing all this work yourself? Wow...
Wish I new how to do this stuff. I love to open and look but don't dare to touch as I have no technical bacground! It would almost be the ultimate hifi hobby.

Good luck with the project.

Hi Stoffie,

i also pickud up a ta-e900 some weeks ago. Amazing piece of equipment. Must be one of the bese ever (to my humble opinion).

Sheperton sounded dreadful. I think they thought they were selling PA systems. Are there any stickers on the underside that give a clue as to their origin? I also have a pair of Canadian TA-N900's. I take it you have the service manual for the TA-N900's if not I have a PDF of it?
Shepperton was supposedly acoutically engineered at great expense. It felt great, the sort of place Levinson might have built. But sounded rather too dead and the UK market was probably the wrong place to put it. Germany was and remains a far bigger high end audio market.
