A speaker find maybe

I helped clean a friends storage area the other day and found a pair of AR TSW 610 speakers in bad shape. Some help would be appreciated in restoring theses if possible. I am new to this this so suggestions where to get foam and other parts would be greatly appreciated.

I've had good luck with generic foam from the auction site. I don't know if ARs have anything unusual about them that would necessitate special surrounds, though. Might be more info available through a Google search of the site.

I used generic foams with no problem. My source doesn't support AK so I won't suggest them, but I don't believe you need look for any special (expensive) foams. If they are the right size, ought to be just fine.

I believe those were near TOTL at the time. Nice grab! Now refoam, get 100+wpc on them and let us know how how they sound.

I've had 2 pair of the tsw-210's a two way with most likely the same tweeter and an 8" woofer and I've always been on the lookout for anything up the food chain at a reasonable price. nice find I think you'll like them one you refoam and clean them up

Had a pair of the 610s -- nice speaker, well worth repairing. Great score for free, BTW. Generic foam will do -- measure the inside/outside diameter of the foam and you are good to go. Check your local electronics stores; one of them may just have what you need. The 610s are power hogs; make certain to give them plenty of power, and enjoy your find. :thmbsp:

Those actually look like they're in great condition. Re-foaming is just a maintenance issue. As long as the drivers work it should be an easy fix!

The cabinets will take some sanding. Steam any dents or deep scratches and sand away. Nice score. Those sound nice.

Started on re-foaming today, the glue on theses is unreal. I think AR should recommend to NASA to use it on the space shuttle tiles.

Refoam Complete

Theses sound great, not bad for my first job. Now I need to find 1 frame and I will have a perfect set.
