A Squadron of New Spitfires Anyone

I'm surprised no one has posted on this yet.
How would you like to dig up 12-20 never used British Spitfires from the end of WWII that were buried in their original crates, waxed, swaddled in grease paper and had their joints tarred against the elements?
Well, looks like these planes are actually there and it may be happening.
One of my favorites. I hope they don't turn out like that "new" 57 Plymouth Belvedere they dug up a few years ago.

Heard about this last week and meant to post something. Hopefully they will turn out to be in good shape.

"New old stock" Spitfires, very cool! I think the Spitfire is just about the sexiest aircraft ever made, rivalled only by the B-17 Flying Fortress. It's all about the elliptical contours aka "curves." Thanks for posting this, most interesting.

I would love to see and hear a group of spitfires pylon racing at Reno, let's talk Warren Buffet or somebody into restoring these jewels!

I am sorry to disagree but, this is the sexist, most beautiful piston powered aircraft to ever grace the skies.

Maybe a good alternative for Canada rather than the CF-35. We've got good experience in buying military surplus such as subs.

I am ex-Navy so the carrier based F-4 gets my vote though I'd not kick a nice P-51 out of the driveway. I think there have been a number of really classic hot planes including the Sabrejet but it somehow forgot to put the props on.

Bomberwise, there is the B-25 that I liked the looks of best for the US designs though maybe unclose and personal I'd change my vote to the B-29. The B-17 was the workhorse tank but seemed out of proportion to me, especially in the tail.

That is exciting news about the Spitfires! I can't wait to see how it all turns out. It would be exciting to see them all flying again.

I agree that the P51 Mustang is the sexiest looking aircraft ever built.

Really? Not this?

Geeze! Somebody needed to read the assembly instructions before putting that thing together! They must have been drinking too much Schnapps.

I am no aeronautical engineer but WTF?

Was that their version of the P-38 they had as a night fighter that handled like a slug going backwards? I seem to remember they had tried to come up with a P-38 beater and it was butt ugly and could not handle so they reconfigured it as a night fighter where it also had only a limited and short advantage before the Allies night fighters began tricking them and shooting them out by the dozen.
