A Yamaha amp to drool over on the bay~

Back to Yamaha,
Hi Mark,
What is the companion pre-amp for it ?
Yamaha brought out a passive preamp specifically for the MX-D1, the YPC-1. The YPC-1 has line level switching and a volume control. While I'm not generally a fan of passive preamps I would love to have a YPC-1. Unfortunately they are virtually unobtainable. Here's a stock photo:

When time permits I'm going to try the MX-D1 in my main system driving the Infinity Quantum 2's.

Unobtainable to most but I feel you follow your pursuits. One of these days I will venture south to Portland and take you up on the previous visiting/listening offer!
I might hit the Blue's festival at Mccall riverfront park...?

Passive preamps are new to me as are digital amps,
So I need to do some more reading for sure.
I like the simpleness of the YPC-1,Is it small or just compressed in the pic?

Wow, now that I've seen Mark B's pics it's very nice looking:yes:
Now up to $685 with 5 days to go!! I'll say it's goin' for $2,800:thmbsp:

Found an old Stereophile, July 2000, Vol 23, No 7

The Sharp was an integrated SM-SX100, $15,000, only 100wpc 5Hz-100kHz, +1/-3dB. THD: 0.02% 1kHz, 1W. Dynamic range: 105dB (5Hz-20kHz). Power consumption: 76W.

1kHz burst output into 8ohms 116.4watts 1%THD, 4ohms 242W at a relaxed 3%THD, 1 and 2ohm loads basicaly crapped out at 30W and 65W with much higher distortion. Sure is a Damn fine lookin' amp as well.

This was a minor hijak for comparision purposes, now back to the fine Yammie:thmbsp:

The YPC-1 is quite small - about 10" x 10".

Here's a few pics of the MX-D1 in my main system. It's currently relieving the MX-10000 of the duty of driving the Quantum 2's. It's performing admirably.

I don't know what that MX-D1 will end up selling for, but there were a few sold on eBay recently for about $1350. A heck of a deal for one that is new with warranty.

I love big meters:thmbsp:The bigger the better:D I've talked to my Dr. about this and he gave me a pill, It's not workin''n now profusely, Thanks Mark B for the 1000 pics:thmbsp:

Hey there Stuwee,
Here's a write up on the Sharp w/ Pic's

Impressive Mark,
Thanks for the pic's.
It's hard to imagine the same company made both pieces with the MX-D1 & the centennial beast together.
If a CD player has a volume dail, can you hook it up to the amp directly?
