Absolutely RARE

I've heard that those are pretty solid receivers with great tuners...with that said, that price is out right retarded.

Its sooo rare that it couldn't even be powered on for the photos :D It is a very stylish and clean receiver, no idea of its real worth....for 20k though I would expect pics of it on and the guts

Beautiful looking receiver with analog tuner... But for $19,995? Just because it is production unit #000001? Heh, I don't think so. This guy is either trying for a lottery hit with a wealthy ignorant foreigner, or he is living too close to one of the toxic dumps in Kearny NJ.

Wow does this mean I can call score on the one I picked up for $20 this summer?
Great reciever,my favorite vintage to date.Easily worth 2-3-4 times more than I gave.....but thats tops..

I love the fact that it costs $20k, but shipping is only $22.15. It would be hilariously ironic if it was destroyed in shipping. :)

I think he's claiming rarity and high price based on the serial number, which would appear to be #1. I'm not a 'collector' but some people are, and serial number might be significant for them. Who knows what someone who collects like that might pay?

Let's see - heat gun to remove label - scan - clone to blank serial number - insert "0000001" - open "Word Label Maker" and select proper label size - hit "PRINT" - attach new label.

Without an original receipt from the retailer with the serial number, I'd pass.

Nice circuitry, but cheaply built, like most Mitsubishi audio gear. Note the lack of pre-out/main-in jacks ala Kenwood, done to keep costs down.

This was their bottom-of-the-line receiver for the time. 30WPC. Worth maybe $125 on a good day...$150~$200 to a Mitsu collector.

The absolute first-made serial number, IF TRUE, should make that worth a premium over the normal price, to a collector. If in good shape, maybe it's worth the $200 top figure that EW mentions, for that reason.

Anyone trying to sell something for that amount of money should put a lot more effort into the presentation. If the listing is real and the serial number is accurate, then he's stupid for not posting a good close-up pick of that serial number.

It may be a scam listing, or it may be someone who failed to find a good market value, hoping to cash in big-time with a uniquely low and desirable serial number, just plucking an optimistic price figure out of his imagination. Either way, I doubt he'll find anyone foollish enough to pay THAT much for it. If he'd put $1,995 instead, it might be thinkable that he'd find someone foolish enough to bite, and at $199 it's certainly thinkable, but nearly 20 grand, when some people here have bought this model for 1/1000th as much? "Fugeddaboutit!"
