I’d like to offer my impressions of the driver boards offered here:

I picked up an Accuphase P250 a few years ago and it has now found its place as the primary amplifier used in my main setup. These new boards made that possible! The idle power and easy flow of music was evident with the stock unit… already like nothing I’d ever heard. BUT, keeping this amplifier wasn’t feasible with my sensitive speakers until I installed these boards. My speakers are highly efficient which makes it essential to find a quiet amplifier that is capable of performing at its best even at a fraction of a watt. My main speakers started out as Klipsch La Scala’s (older versions at 105db per watt) but I gradually replaced parts until now I can only say they are Klipsch La Scala “inspired” DIY horn speakers that are even a tad bit more efficient than the La Scalas. With speakers like this I can certainly get louder than I would ever want but I also need to be able to play at a low volume so I don’t wake up the kids. I need (want) a setup that can do it all… I want to hear it all at any volume level.
When I first got the Accuphase home I plugged it in to try it out but could quickly hear that all was not right.. There was a bit of hum, a buzz, and hiss all at the same time… a bit on the warm side. I had it rebuilt but while I was quite impressed with the improved sound there was still a hiss that I could hear all the way to my seat… not annoying during most music but noticeable during quiet passages. Those darn high efficiency horns let you hear everything! There is a musicality and dynamics here that I want! How do I get that without the noise?
Installing the replacement driver boards is very simple… just like installing a board in your PC. I powered it up and the first thing noticable was that there is almost no hiss! Certainly any hum or buzz from the old retired boards was completely gone. If I stand within a few feet of the speakers I can hear a slight hiss from these sensitive speakers but when I sit down it is unnoticeable and the sound is nothing short of glorious! There is more depth and dynamics than ever! This great sounding amplifier is now better than I thought it could be.
Late at night when the kids are in bed I need to keep the sound level under 70 db in my room. With the Accuphase and the new boards I can hear everything even playing at 60 or 65 db! Even at low volume there is a power and depth to the sound that most amplifiers fail to produce. I've never heard any other amplifier do this! I don’t feel like I’m missing anything even when playing at low volume. Most amps playing soft, especially with efficient speakers, can sound weak and even seem to lose some of the music. As I increase the volume to any level on the Accuphase that power and depth remains and the dynamics are great as ever. We are talking about clean musical sound at all levels of volume like nothing I've ever heard!
