ACI Titan II sub problem

First, I'd like to thank those who have responded. I may wind up trying to fix this myself if I can't find someone to come to my rescue. The reality is that electronics repair is not my skill set, but attempt a repair or just junk it, I'd try repair.
To answer questions, I've found, on another site, someone with the same SW with a slightly older version of the same amp. He posted the schematics. The bulge on the top of the one cap is the aluminum can not the plastic.
The I'm no expert, but the amp appears to be well laid out of better build quality than most that I have seen. This makes me want to get it repaired.

Link to the schematic and discussion?

As requested.....
You _should_ only have to replace the electrolytic caps which commonly go bad with age.
And it looks like there are only the two main ones on the power amp that should be very
easy to replace, always note polarity as you probably know.
Of course, if that doesn't fix it, any component might have failed with age. But the bulge
is obviously bad/stressed.
It also looks like the preamp is separate from the power amp, and as a last resort, if the pre
amp works, you could use something like a digital ICEpower (500W) module to replace the power
amp. There's a version with an on board power supply also:
ICEpower 500A Class D Audio Amplifier Module 1 x 500W

That's a nice sub by the way, it has a 12" woofer, is the edge in good shape?
Is it an aperiodic box with holes drilled in the bottom?

bafld, that's the link that I was referring to. What I have appears to be a later version of the same amp, mine being 11.0 as another poster in that thread has.

Pete, it really is an outstanding sub, a whole 'nuther league above the M&K V-75 that I was using which is why I'd like to get the amp fixed. I am currently using the subwoofer RCA output from my Onkyo Integra AV receiver fed into a Carver TFM 6CB amp in bridged mode (200 w vs the Triad @ 250 w). It really sounds great.
The sw cab appears to be sealed. When I got it, the rubber surround on the woofer had come loose. I've reattached it.

After "some deliberation", I think the best thing to do would be to try to get the original amp rebuilt. Does anyone have a recommendation on someone who would be fix this.

Oh, and thanks to all who have responded to this post.

The OP forgot to mention that it is a pretty cool looking sub!!! :)

My theory is that sub amps get beat up by the environment (pounding of the sub, lack of ventilation). There isn't a brand of sub I've seen that doesn't have a fairly high rate of amp failures long term. The ACI amp definitely looks like a far better quality than the typical class D sub amps.

I had a Sunfire HRS10 sub amp fail. Thought about replacing it with a modern plate amp because it's not unusual for the Sunfire amps to fail, but decided to have a tech fix it. He knew all of the vulnerabilities, so hopefully it is better than new (it's probably been 6 years since the amp was rebuilt and still working great). Hopefully it's possible to find someone who can proactively fix all of the vulnerabilities of the ACI amp during the repair.

When using an aftermarket plate amp, it seems like it would have to be an exact match on dimensions, because sealing any gap would seem to be damn near impossible.

The original Titan is the one that I have. I have filled the opening for the amp in the speaker cab. I plan on mounting the oem amp, if I can get it repaired, remotely.

No recommendations on a tech???
I know that there is someone out there who is dying to work on this!

I tried to contact Triad, but you need some app to get a message to them. Sorry, but I'm a caveman in app-land. I don't speak the language.

I saw a plain old email address at the bottom of the web page. Could start with that.

EDIT: Wait a minute... how did we get from ACI to Triad?

EDIT 2: Disregard... I see mentioned previously the amp says Triad on it.

Oops! Thanks for the correction.

I asked AI if the maker of the ACI Titan subwoofer was still in business -- it looks like a pretty good response from AI (at first glance at least)

Cut & Paste of AI response:

No, the original maker of the ACI (Audio Concepts, Inc.) Titan subwoofer,
Mike Dzurko, closed the company and retired around December 2009.

  • Company Status: Audio Concepts, Inc. (based in Wisconsin) ceased operations in 2009 after more than 30 years in business.
  • Legacy: The ACI Titan, particularly the Titan II, was a highly regarded, factory-direct, 12-inch powered subwoofer often sold as a kit or finished product.
  • Support & Parts: While Mike Dzurko was known to sometimes have remaining stock in the years immediately following the shutdown, the company is no longer actively manufacturing, selling, or supporting these products.
  • Note on Similar Names: There are other companies with similar names (e.g., "Audio Components International" or "Audio Concepts" in Georgia), but they are not affiliated with the original ACI that made the Titan series.
If you own an ACI Titan, finding original replacement parts (like the amplifier or specialized drivers) is difficult, as they are no longer in production.

The little I read on the Triad site seemed to suggest they do some of their own stuff but also some custom/contract type stuff.

Their name and address comes back with a phone number if any concerned party is of the "just pick up the phone" mindset rather than electrochat or email.

There are plenty of Triad amplifiers available by searching for "Triad PowerSub Amplifier" on the popular auction site.

Not as many show up when searching for sub or subwoofer instead of PowerSub

Should be easy to buy a used replacement amp with posts above.

This thread talks about replacing a similar Titan plate amp with a DSP Dayton plate amp (requires cutting the cabinet for that particular plate amp I think at a glance of the thread). Could be an advantage over old amp if you want DSP -- I usually prefer all analog for subs, but OP may have other preferences.
