ADS BC8 refurb project

Just a quick possibly the final note on this project. Just wanted to thank all contributors and followers for all the help and encouragement to get these beautiful monitors back to where they should be.
Glen, Garry, Brian from Holt Hill as well as a few others. Here are a few pics of the grills done and affixed to the speakers. These sound so good super tight bass and mids and highs right on point I like the fact that if you notice the highs a bit too bright just a flick of the switch for minor adjustments. Have only been using a small 35W NAD integrated tuner but still can’t go above 1/2 volume with crisp clean sound no distortion other than a few items in the room shaking. Lol. Found some replacement grill badges just a bit of paint and sanding them down good as new. Thanks Garry for the tip.
The grill frames came out great. And just finished wrapping them up. Thanks Brian.
The only thing left is to find some replacement connectors for the input cards they have been an issue earlier but have been fine lately. And possibly have made or make a bi-amp card. Will see where this goes. Also thanks to Burton Heaton for the new aluminum decal/badges 3 for each speaker. They look great.
Anyway thanks again.
BT
Till the next one. Lol

I want you to believe me when I say I have totally enjoyed this thread. This was to quote a friend ... a front row seat event. You really did a magnificent job on these. I'm proud for you to have been the fella that got these. Stunning workmanship! If you have a phone and can shoot a vid of these in action all of us would really appreciate seeing that in Glenns thread!

Good idea. Any suggestions as to what might be a proper track to use in the video?
Will try and post a video tomorrow. These are still at my workshop at work and the surrounding won’t give a proper assessment in the video but hey if I decide to move them to a nicer venue I’ll make another video. Lol
Thanks

It's okay where you shoot them. Best you can do is through Youtube and with their compression they won't sound to us, like they sound to you. But all of us in that thread understand that and it's mostly for fun. Those are a very rare breed of speaker, and to finally have a set up on youtube is not only a treat, but you'll be the first in the world to have recorded and posted them.

What track? ... well, that's part of the fun too. We get to hear the stuff our AK brothers/Sisters like. Surprise us!

Garry~

Got some more pics of the veneers being done. I think this being my first full veneer project it didn’t come out too bad. Got the sides and top lined up pretty good. Only detail I kind of would do different is to mark the veneers so the details are same height. I’m off a bit but not too much. Now to tape up and paint the baffle and rear of cabinets. Sooooo close!!!

Looking fabulous! Love projects like this!

Posted in the video thread? I’ll look for it if it’s there!
Yes I’ll look for the link. Looks as if you’ve seen the video. Lol you were like the 2cd or 3rd person to comment.
I might be losing track if this if a repeat please disregard.

Like onwardjames, I missed this thread when it was new. I went looking for it after Glenn’s comment about them being a resto in his video thread (one of my favorite AK threads, btw).
You have truly done a spectacular job bringing these rare speakers back to life, and kudos for spending the time and effort (and green folding) to do so. It’s such a pleasure seeing cool stuff brought back from the brink, especially when done so well.

Thanks for the kind words John. yes these were in terrible shape and doing this and being able to listen to them when completed really did give me a sense of pride and accomplishment. Specially having never done a veneer job before. The pages on this site are phenomenally helpful.
thanks again,
Cheers
